Some thoughts on the flag TroyBill Junior Member Joined: Aug 24, 2017 Messages: 5,192 Likes Received: 7,992 Jul 3, 2019 #1 I have been watching and reading the news on Kaepernick and Nike. It appears that neither have ever opened a history book. This original flag and its intentions was never to represent white nationalism. Just because some fringe group uses it does not make it true. When George Washington asked her to design something that represented the original 13 colonies, he had suggested the stars be in a square. Betsy and her fellow upholstery shop workers came up with the circular pattern. Thirteen stripes the original thirteen colonies that declared independence from England; the 13 stars symbolized the original 13 United States. White signifies purity and innocence, red signifies valor and bravery; and blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice. https://goingplacesfarandnear.com/72-hours-in-philadelphia-meet-betsy-ross-a-thoroughly-modern-woman/ Betsy was a feminist before it was fashionable. This flag represents her too and the women in this country who gave of themselves and were treated as second class citizens until the 20th century. Did Mr Kaepernick ever contemplate that? He is merely in a long line of America haters that has taken this country for granted and opted to hate it on the backs of those who died to preserve this freedom. Unfortunately, there are plenty more like him. Michele OBama comes to mind. On this 4th of July please celebrate the true meaning of this flag. It has provided us freedoms unlike any other country in the world. Do not take it for granted but celebrate that we can express ourselves without having to be killed or imprisoned. Kaepernick and his fellow "victims" are apparently unable grasp this concept. Last edited: Jul 3, 2019 tommytrojan1122, RPBSC, fssca51 and 8 others like this.
