I have been watching and reading the news on Kaepernick and Nike. It appears that neither have ever opened a history book. This original flag and its intentions was never to represent white nationalism. Just because some fringe group uses it does not make it true. When George Washington asked her to design something that represented the original 13 colonies, he had suggested the stars be in a square. Betsy and her fellow upholstery shop workers came up with the circular pattern. Thirteen stripes the original thirteen colonies that declared independence from England; the 13 stars symbolized the original 13 United States. White signifies purity and innocence, red signifies valor and bravery; and blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

Betsy was a feminist before it was fashionable. This flag represents her too and the women in this country who gave of themselves and were treated as second class citizens until the 20th century. Did Mr Kaepernick ever contemplate that? He is merely in a long line of America haters that has taken this country for granted and opted to hate it on the backs of those who died to preserve this freedom. Unfortunately, there are plenty more like him. Michele OBama comes to mind.

On this 4th of July please celebrate the true meaning of this flag. It has provided us freedoms unlike any other country in the world. Do not take it for granted but celebrate that we can express ourselves without having to be killed or imprisoned. Kaepernick and his fellow "victims" are apparently unable grasp this concept.

These pro-Kapernick idiots are trenchantly insisting that the American flag is a symbol of racism and no amount of history lessons can change their minds. If this is the point that we've reached in our country where the Leftists truly believe that our flag is a symbol of racism, it's probably time they remove themselves from this 'racist' country and find a place where they can do it better.

There are too many liberals with a chip on their shoulder looking for anything that they believe is an affront to them. Furthermore they can draw attention and get others to be offended as well. These individuals are driving this country into the toilet.

What I hate is, Nike probably had this whole thing planned as a marketing stunt. I'm 58 and have owned 1 pair of Nike's in my life, it was a shitty shoe and I never bought another one. I'd bet that most chiming in on this probably are not Nike's target demographic. Nike's target demographic will look at this and be more loyal to the product for listening to Kaepernick.

It's a sad portrait of this country.

Problem is Nike produces much more than shoes. Most SC gear such as jerseys and polos are Nike. Difficult to boycott them completely.

    THANK YOU,

For upholding what the flag truly represents and pointing out that thousands upon thousands have given their lives to support those representations.

For the sick minded, socialist, globalist, left wing, liberal haters that are trying to rewrite history, destroy historical monuments, nullify the United States Constitution and turn America into a socialist, globalist nation...there better be enough of them willing to give their lives up for their assinine cause to offset those who have and will give their lives to crush any attempt to make America into an unrecognizable second rate globalist socialist nation.

Why do we allow heinous groups like the KKK to somehow commandeer symbols of our country? The fact is we didn't. Kapernick just thinks we did. The Betsy Ross flag was said to have been used beginning in 1777. The Klan was formed 88 years later. Why does Kapernick give the Klan so much credence to think that symbol was first theirs. He and AOC are now tied for idiot of the year.

Because like most ignorant leftists, they fail to grasp that the KKK is an arm of the Democratic Party.

It appears that most people haven't opened a history book. In June 1777, the US passed the first flag Act. It described that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.

100 years later, William Canby, Betsy Ross' grandson told a story publicly for the first time, delivering a paper titled “The History of the Flag of the United States”. He claimed that Betsy had begun sewing the Betsy Ross Flag in 1776, a year before the flag act. When confronted by the historical society, Canby claimed that the story was family lore and there were no drawings or flags to support it.

Canby's story suggests that Washington wanted six points on the stars and Ross five. A Congressional Committee selected Ross' design a year before the flag Act passed. However, there is no record of the committee or designs.

The Canby family wrote a book about the history of flags in 1906, which cemented Ross' place in lore. But, the Historical Society believes that Francis Hopkinson, who created the Great Seal of the United States, is the most likely creator of the US flag.

Nike and Colin have a point.
