No doubt some of the rabid Helton haters were oh so disappointed seeing Carol Folt at the game and after it was over there was no tarmac drama.

I don't think anyone expected a tramac episode, given all that was said in advance. In saying these things they knew the context. Temp AD says no decisions, Folt says no decision, so they wanted us all to know no immediate changes. AND, it makes sense. It would be for the new AD to eat the buyout from the residue of Swannie's extension he gave to Gomer. No one else is going to take that on. Even Hellton knows he is safe to until Thanksgiving. After that, a new AD should be in place and no one should be safe.

Don't be so sure. There are some crazies on the board expecting CCH to be fired mid season and you can see the anguish in their posts when he isn't terminated after each game.

Crazies? You mean the ones who also felt Helton should have been canned after a complete debacle of a season last year? Losing to the worst UCLA team possibly in their history. Giving up the most yards rushing ever in the rivalry to the worst UCLA team possibly in history. Moron Helton should have never been given the opportunity to continue to drive this once storied program into the ground in 2019. Possibly the only thing saving Clueless now is the fact that SC does not have an AD in place to perform a tarmac ceremony, which is much deserved at this point...Clueless is the disease that is killing this program.

I think with Folt being there she’s sending a message that USC athletics, in particular football, is important to her and the university.

If it didn't happen after losing to Washington, it wasn't going to happen until we're at five losses. Next week is even Homecoming, and that would just be trashy.

Whether we have a new permanent AD in place by then or not, we'll see. But any more than 4 L's and it _is_ going to happen. (or if the 4th loss is to a hapless fucla team it could still happen.)

The timing would still work such that as soon as we get loss #5, no matter if after even if it's the last game of the year (and not the conference championship), the AD (either interim or permanent) would pull the trigger. I could easily see this being the Interim AD, paving the way for the new permanent AD to bring in Meyer and inaugurate their tenure with a real home-run hire.

    We still have
Zona (with a mobile qb who really, really wants to beat us),
the zeros (who might grind us to a fine powder),
ASU (in the desert, where the bad things happen),
and Kal (a team they shouldn't sleep on) to come.

If he splits those he could still be on the job market five weeks from today - or at already have been told that fucla on 11/23 is his Senior Day too.

Pretty sure everyone agrees that you are the #1 crazy.

No one expects Helton to get fired at 3-3. Heck I don't even (expect) him to get fired at 8-4. I personally see him stepping down if USC agrees to pay the buyout and let's him go coach somewhere else.

He truly isn't a bad coach or person. He just isn't an elite coach and this is a blueblood program. Its better to quit than get fired.

Though Gomer deserves to be fired ... last year. They are not firing the third idiot in a row during the season unless Gomer gets caught in the shower with a ball boy. No, we are stuck with the dork and so let the lazy turd go through this misery as a fat squawking lame duck and get booed off the field ala Kiffy and Suck were. Gomer looks miserable begging hoping praying for a job he is about to get canned from and one he kissed arse to get.

If Kal ‘s QB is back watch out. Ducks will be gunning for a lame duck coach.

Not a lot of posters here with good reading comprehension skills. I have always maintained Helton should have been terminated after finishing 5-7 last season. I was surprised he was retained. The crazies I am referring to are the posters who want him fired right now. That is ridiculous and that will not happen no how, no way. The idiots who chant tarmac are mildly amusing but are getting boring.

If he doesn't beat Arizona at home, I think he gets canned by Sunday night.

I don’t think it is crazy to want him fired now. Lord knows he begged and pleaded with Swann to be retained. I’m relatively certain the half-hearted coaching make over was coming from Swann and not Helton’s brainchild. Even with these coaching changes, Helton has shown no improvement from last year. Throw in the fact that SC’s recruiting is probably the worst it has been since the Hackett era and yes, it would be entirely reasonable for him to be fired now. No one would criticize SC for giving him the boot, especially if he loses to AZ.

Pumper, the track is the set for Helton's exit. Full stop. The loser will take a bag of Greek and Swann cash. Adios. Back in your hole pumper.

Helton will be allowed to finish the season. It would be nonproductive and stupid to do otherwise. Deal with it.

so now you're changing your tone from he won't be fired at 10-3 to he will be fired at the end of the season.
