Just searched and read about his sickness. I hadn't seen anything on it previously, but it says it's a mysterious sickness doctors can't diagnose. It looks like it started about the time he came back to SC.

Doubt it’s mono as it was reported all sorts of tests were administered to find the cause of his fevers. Mono is one that docs test for when dealing with 18 year olds.

I could be wrong, but I hope he’s doing better.

Let's hope it's just a move to try and get NCAA pity points. (fingers crossed)

I for one would love to see this kid play.

If he has some kind of sickness (e.g. Mono) that will cause him to miss a significant part of the season, then there is no reason to ask for a waiver (which nzaa will deny anyway) and just let him redshirt and recover.

I wonder if he’s been checked for Valley Fever. There are spots in Texas where you can catch it.

Valley Fever is easy to diagnose. If he had it, he would have known by now. Same with mono.

My guess is that it is some sort of autoimmune disorder...or nothing at all.

I don’t think there’s going to be any decision for them to make. I don’t think he’s going to apply for the waiver.

Constant fevers could be caused by very broad range of things....some not too bad, some extremely bad.

I am scared for the young man

This is sounding like SC didn’t actually apply for a waiver? Am I wrong? It seems like they’d do it just to do it, but no one thought Bru would get a waiver, and with the illness that I hope has finally subsided, a season off may have been for the best anyway. So much mental exhaustion too with all the stress. Hopefully he’ll be healthy and ready to go next season. I think about that illness often, just hate to see a family and kid be sick and not know why. If that happened to my kids I’d be a wreck.

It’s not mono, they have a monospot test to confirm the diagnosis.

Yup, read they ran all the tests for all the things us normal folks can think of and were stumped. He’s been through the gamut of specialists and they still didn’t know. I’d really love to hear that he’s recovered!
