Kudos to Enfield and staff for the overhaul thus far. Vic is not a D1 big, Brooks never seemed fully comfortable at SC, and I love the emphasis on bringing in shooters to play off of Nick, Big O and Mobley next season.

Looks to me like the scholarships break down as follows:

PG (4) - Thornton, Weaver, Sturdivant, Thompson
SG (4) - Mathews, Utomi, Adlesh, Baumann
    SF (2) - Agbonkpolo, O'Bannon
    PF (2) - Rakocevic, Mobley
    C (1) - Okongwu

    Walk-ons: Drake London

Am I right on that? If so, looks like we're maxed out. My one hope for the offseason was to bring in a true grad transfer PG or go hard after flipping a 4*/5* guy; another year of Thornton at the helm has me nervous.

Well, Nick is not a PF but a true center as he cannot shoot. Molbey is the only true PF.
So that leaves you with no sub PFs, but to put Okong as PF also.
So need another PF and OBannon and Max have to play some minutes at PF. Very unbalanced there.
As for the rest it would be who shares the ball and who can shoot.
USC has never had a real shooter in a long time.
Ethan is the prototype PG but does need to get a shot like Thornton.
The whole key to success is sharing the ball.

I agree with most of what you say, but not sure about "never had a shooter"...what about Bennie, what about Elijah Stewart - both shot at least 5 threes a game and made nearly 40%.

Yeah, SC has had shooters recently.....

Its the Bruins that has not had any shooters, outside of Bryce Alford...

Easily a top 3 roster in the PAC-12.
Oregon/USC/Arizona are in my preseason favorites and I believe the gap is a lot smaller between Oregon and USC for me..

Oregon losing a lot of guys to the draft. I think they will be rebuilding next year.

True but with a top 10 class coming in, I can’t add Arizona and exclude Oregon.
As long as Pritchard comes back, Oregon will remain.
This is before Altman fills the remaining holes with JUCOs and grad-transfers.

He wasn’t required to take the stand.
At this point, everything being thrown at him is not able to stick outside of Coach Book.
Those “in the know” on my other site is not worried about the situation so, I have not found much either so until something concrete comes up...

Me too. Weaver also makes me nervous, but not as much so as Thornton. We knew SC would have a tough time replacing McLaughlin; last year underscored just how good and how valuable Jordan was.

    SC needs big men too.

I would say Boatwright was a shooter. In fact I would be hard-pressed to name a better-shooting big man from SC. I think the team needs size and toughness inside (along with a better point guard). Rakocevic was horrendous at the end of the season. If he can learn to control his emotions he might be pretty good, but he doesn't seem to handle adversity at all.

Boogie ellis maybe? Just got out of his LOI from duke. thought he had some interest in us earlier on in the process and might have died down but if we have a spot we should go after him

I was open to the possibility that Rakocevic would keep on improving but I think what you see now is what you get. On a good team, he is getting no more than 10-12 minutes/game off the bench.

Rumor says he wants to be a OND prospect.

He has a new list of nine schools: (USC/GT/Memphis/UNC/SDSU/Gonzaga/Oklahoma/Oregon & Arizona).
If I were to make a VERY ignorant guess, I would say SDSU/Oregon/Gonzaga & Memphis would be the best options.

USC/Arizona/UNC already have lead guards, or lead guards coming in.
GT/Oklahoma aren’t good enough to warrant the scouts showing up, even though they would play against some teams with NBA prospects (Duke/UNC & Kansas/Texas).

Gonzaga is a premier program right now and scouts are definitely going to be in Spokane.
Oregon is on pace to possibly lose King/Pritchard and don’t have many quality guards returning; Ellis would step in immediately.
Memphis has the #1 recruit in the country coming in (Wisemann) and he will bring the NBA scouts.
The same would go for SDSU if McDaniels ends up there also.
