How many of these threads are you going to start?

You have seriously wandered into troll territory.

If SC does not win the PAC 12, and the Rose Bowl, Helton must go. Hell, he needs to go anyways, he hasn’t beat ND in three years and lost to a pathetic Bruin team last year. Coach O lost my support when he didn’t beat either of the rivals, why does Helton get a free pass?

There is little about the ND performance that suggest we will run the table. Wish that were true, but it's not.

The ND game showed, once again, how inconsistent this team is and that's on the coaching staff more than the players. Inconsistency has been the hallmark of Helton's tenure, honestly. And it's time to move on to a new coach and staff. Has been for a while.

For fucks sake... is it possible? Is it possible we run the table, win the pac and go to the Rose? Sure... its possible. But its not likely... and you have to know that. In fact, as other posters have stated, I think the opposite is more likely.

Listen, I like Clay. Part of me will be sad to see him go. But hes proven hes not the guy for the job. He's had four years to figure it out and hasn't. His charisma brings talent in but his lack of coaching ability doesn't development it. He makes the same mistakes time and time again and continues to fall back on same old adages -- young team, getting better, etc. We are not getting better in the long term. And do not get me started to post game interviews. I could pull one up from three years ago and hear the same buillshit, word for word.

I'm usually pretty optimist about the team but the writing was on the wall after four games last year. Why would you want us to somehow bumble to the Rose and ensure mediocrity for another year?

Clay has got to go. Enough with anything stating otherwise.

Does the OP also think USC can win a Final Four this season as well?

Do we need another refresher course in probability and sadistics? I think half the board usually has to repeat the course.

Most of those games are just above a 50% chance of winning, with at least one of them being significantly below a 50% chance of winning.

Hint; you do not take the average chance of winning when predicting a specific outcome of ALL the games.

The data follows a distribution with one variable being either 0 or 1 for each game.
Here it is game A win x game B win x etc etc etc etc. Not very probable that we would

So I'm telling you there is at best about a 12.5% chance of this team running the table from here out, and if ucla suddenly becomes competent, then it goes to under 5% chance. That's because both Colorado and Cal are capable of nearly a 50/50 chance of beating us, and Oregon is very close to 90%, and either Arizona school is over 50% chance of winning.

Yes. Very exciting. There probably aren't a lot of teams who go 8-11 and then immediately go on an 8-0 run.
ESPN has USC with a 1.6% chance of winning out. That seems about right.

I actually thought HCCH would fire Clancy to save his own ass. But the reality is his offense isn't worth a shit so how could you break in a new DC with no production on offense - lose nearly all your games and promise us the moon? But I have been making these observations for three painful years now, and I am beyond disgusted where we need to get the best replacement we can possibly afford as soon as possible and tell the hoity toity around SC to just hold their noses for a while until we get our program back on its feet again. Last year I wanted the change and even the year before, but this year the available replacements will be optimum and you know who that means. The record this year really is not that relevant to me, 8-4 and I still cut him loose and there's no way we go 9-3 [like 6.25%]

I recall a USC team led by CCH that started out 1-4 winning 9 in a row that included a victory over #5 Penn State in the Rose Bowl.

It was 1-3, and it was a great run. Clay did a nice job turning things around that year. And, maybe, just maybe, if he can replace a below-average QB with a top-3, once-in-a-generation talent off the bench he may have a repeat of it.

In any event, if you really think a run like that is going to happen this year, you're about to be very disappointed. This is a 7-5 team. Clay is a 7-5 coach .... until his 60th ranked recruiting classes kick in, in which case he'll be a 3-9 coach. If you like 7-5 trending to 3-9, he's your guy.

Hope you're right, but you're not.

We probably finish 6-6. Next week, the OP thread will begin with " if we go 8-4, we might get the Holiday Bowl."

You need to give this fantasy up. Sam Darnold plays for the Jets- he can't come back and prop up Gomer.
