I can think of no Demorat appointees who grew up once they got to the court and became conservative....most get further left. Whizzer White was a Republican when Kennedy named him. I leave it to 901, best person for the job, to name a demorat who grew into a conservative....if there is one.

This is a decision that should have been a slam dunk for SCOTUS. I gave up expecting the Left leaning Justices to rule correctly on Americans Constitutional Rights, so excuse me if I’m disappointed in a Justice that got the job because he once stood for what was right.

Gives the left more impetus to stack the court.

An analysis. I'm not vouching for it, but a place to start looking for oneself, if interested (48 pages, slow and tedious):

....Do most justices remain committed to a particular doctrinal course throughout their careers, as Strauss and others contend, or do the skeptics have the better case? After reviewing the relevant commentary in Part II, we deploy state of-the-art methods to address these questions. The results, as it turns out, could not be clearer: Contrary to the received wisdom, virtually every justice serving since the 1930s has moved to the left or right or, in some cases, has switched directions several times.....
