Maybe we can get a 2 for 1. If we let Jinks go since McGuire also has experience coaching running backs we can now pay for Cherrington’s salary! Time to start discarding the dead weight!

Can he at least change his name from Clay? One Clay is more than enough.

Let’s just call the guy Jerry Maguire.

"While this hire likely won’t be celebrated by Trojan fans as a big-name offensive line coach..."

Crossing fingers that we won't have another anemic rushing attack and lost season.

I’m assuming Texas St rushed for 131 yards PER GAME, not as a team for the season? Honestly a season rushing 131 yards in an air raid may actually be considered par for the course.

Praying his familiarity with the AR makes for a more effective running game. God knows wazzu was able to run the ball effectively in the last few years. The rushing yardage can't get worse, right???

Or we can call Helton by his real name: Chuck or Charlie.

Yeah, I’d be in this camp. If we’re staying with Harrell and the AirFaid then might as well hire an Oline coach who has worked in, and with, one. Maybe some familiarity and agreement with blocking schemes can unlock some run game...aarrgghh!!

No more excuses, though....or blow it all up.

let Jinks go and bring in Jim Mastro. Then we might see a real running game.

    Erik,

What happened to Brad Davis? There were some great comments about his recruiting abilities and attention to detail. I thought he was going to be Drevno’s replacement?

Some conflicting reports as to whether Davis was actually offered the job or not. But he was always going to be a difficult pull away from Sam Pittman and Arkansas. Davis has a very strong relationship with Pittman and it's never going to be easy for a program to pull him away.

It’s about 10 years of Wazzu and Leach/Harrell on his resume....not where he’s at.

    We’ll see.

I don’t have any problem with the hire. I hope he does a great job, but it won’t make any difference.

The assistant coaches will not matter, the players will not matter. This team will never be any better than the man at the controls, Clay Helton.
