All I see from Helton era are hype videos and a bunch of injuries during the season. I won’t buy in until after the 2021 season

I'd rather have one of these two but ok.

I just found out Christian Tupou who was part of Ausmus’s staff was a casualty of the Ausmus firing. I heard the players loved him. He was not kept when Stiner came on board and was replaced by an Intern. It is tough being a subordinate under a underperforming coach.

I want to see legit numbers from our big men on squat, deadlift, and bench. From these weak ass hype videos i view, i see a 5th (6th year?) Senior doing dumbell rows with 80lbs. Get out of here with that weak shit. I'm sure there are several posters many years older who do that as a warmup. Show me something then display it on the field and we'll talk.

Haha! Yeah I’m one of those guys. Although enhancing athletic performance isn’t always putting up the biggest compound lifts. I would rather see these guys doing 500-700lb sled pushes more than 400-600lb squats or deadlifts.

Christian Tupou was one of the five strength and conditioning coaches last year and all five have been replaced. None were replaced by interns though.

Alongside Stiner, there are two Assistant Directors and two Assistant Coaches.

Sorry what I meant to say one of the assistants was an intern at Notre Dame, and was promoted in the process.

Zaviar Gooden was an intern at Notre Dame in 2018, but he has more strength and conditioning experience than that, as he was was the head sports and fitness trainer at CRA-Z Sports Training in Texas for 2 years, more recently than his Notre Dame internship. He was also a five-year NFL pro. And according to his bio, he has a certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Tupou, according to his bio, came to USC without any S&C experience whatsoever.

I’m in no way saying that a certification makes someone clearly better for a position, and I agree that I’d rather have qualified former Trojans in more positions than they’re in right now within the program, but I don’t see this as a situation where a more qualified person was replaced by a less qualified person. And that’s especially true when you consider that the four assistants have to work so closely with Stiner. If he’s the guy at the top, you have to allow him to bring in his four assistants.

They may like him but was he making a difference in the physical and mental development of the players? I didn’t see much improvement in both areas
