Last week's win over Stanford was devalued big time given how UCF just stomped them.

Pretty much everybody did.....from “Slovis for Heisman” to 10-2 predictions.

I was real excited as well but started to come down a bit when I read an article about previous years where we had a great victory over Stanford and ended up tanking

Worst furd team we've seen the past 10 years. Yeah, it was smoke and mirrors.

I held off on the "anointing". This is Helton we're talking about. So, there was enough evidence to pump the brakes, here.

Last week Heltonism wasn’t in play because of the lopsided win, this week the Heltonism was in play and reality set back in! The euphoria was great for a week! I wonder what President Holt’s call will be like this week!
    Fight On!

Yeah, during the furd game helton didn't have to make any critical decisions. We all knew if it came down to that it wasn't gonna be good.

I remember one poster saying that he didn't want to write a whole dissertation based upon one data point.

I thought we looked smaller than Stanford but with better skill players. You just can’t trust one game.

However now we have 3 games, and 2 were sketchy. I still see 4-7 losses.

Seeing the Stanford-UCF game before the USC-BYU game reminded me of the PAC teams losing badly in the bowl games leading up to the 2017 Cotton Bowl. Some (including myself) had this feeling that USC was going to get exposed....and it did.

Beat a bad furd team gave a ray of hope, but deep down most knew better. A positive is one step closer to a new HC.

tanking is subjective depending on who you're talking to but going off that theory in recent years

2014: lost at Boston College after beating Stanford the week before

2017: lost at Wazzu three weeks after beating Stanford

2019: lost at BYU after beating Stanford the week before

Interestingly all were on the road.

We haven't been a good road team since 2011.
