Could it be that we are near the end of scholarship spots for 2020? I'm guessing around 12.

Whether we are or not, I am going to assume we will not turn away any big fish in 2020.
The 6-7 commits we have, I will say the only one(s) we would let sign early would be Young, and the rest would be told to wait until the LSP.

I believe the number is estimated to end up around 18.

They have like 7 transfers so those will be added. There will be some other guys who transfer, and with how many guys who got left behind look for them to transfer earlier in the process before NSD.

    Levi
    Sidney
    Wole
    Grimes
    J Imatorbhebhe
    Ykilli Ross ?

I believe we’re at 83 scholarships now even with the departures. The two (a freshman and a juco transfer) who haven’t enrolled yet and there’s one coming this week. So those transfers were taken into account, at least I believe so.
I’m sure there will be upcoming transfers by the end of the season, I was just wondering who. It makes no sense for either qb to leave before the end of the season, where could they go to earn playing time so late in the process. And there are always early exits to the nfl, but they don’t have to announce until well after ESD.

That’s correct, there are 83 on roster including Bru & Steele & excluding the two “exits”, leaving 11 open slots. The potential non-returnees, as I see it, would be:
    - Sears or JTD, whoever loses out on the starting job. Sears is a strong candidate as he will be a grad transfer.
    - I think both Fink & Jones may try for transfer portal again, as my feeling is they weren’t prepared for the new process in year one. If Velus is #4 or 5 receiver, he may transfer to play his last year somewhere else.
    - Jimmons & Martin on the OL may be forced out as the younger guys pass them over.
    - We may see some attrition on OLBs, as the role reduces for that position in favor of heavier DEs.
    - If Michael Brown continues to play backup kicker/punter role, do we want to keep that scholarship locked up?
    - Some guys that could declare early for the draft IF they have a big year: Austin Jackson, Tyler Vaughns, Stephen Carr, Tufele, Tuipulotu.

Obviously if all these happen there will be plenty of space, but realistically I’m guessing 6-8 make early exits among these. We may also see the Randal Grimes, Jay Godfrey type exits from the younger guys as some of these 3-stars don’t pan out. Especially if we have a good year, we will probably look to move some of the 3-stars from 2019 class to make room for higher rated recruits.

I'm guessing we will have 4 guys graduate and move on with life, maybe as grad transfers. We might have 1 or 2 early entries to the draft, depending on the season. I'm guessing about a 16 person class now.

Also, does Tayler Katoa come back next season after a 2 year mission?

I was thinking about Jimmons this morning. I hope he plays somewhere. I like him. I'm thinking if he can't get on the field at OL, they should move him back to DL. Good that he's getting cross-training, IMO.
