Only two more regular season games to go. Can the team rally to Fight On against its most bitter rival? Post your best prediction of the final score for this game. We will announce winners after the game.

To see last week’s winners, click here and scroll down: https://wearesc.com/forum/index.php?threads/official-cal-game-prediction-thread.56143/page-5

The Basic Rules of tabulation this week will be as follows:
*We will track predicted scores (one guess per person) and come up with a winner by 'least cumulative variance.' That is, the real variance of each team's guess added together.
*If two people have given the same score, then the first one that gave the score is the winner. Other than that, there could be co-champions. if two people have given different scores, but have the same cumulative variance.
*Edits to posted scores will be allowed until game time.
*If the least cumulative variance happens to pick the wrong winner, they will be awarded "Closest to the Pin,' but the overall winner must guess the winning team correctly.
*A 'Most Wrong' Award will be given out for the guess with the largest cumulative variance.
*No more guesses or changes after kickoff.

Please Observe The Following Honorary Rules:
-The Cardinal & Gold Rule - Whole numbers only. Fractional numbers will be rounded up.
-The NorCalSurfer Rule – No ‘Negative’ score predictions
-The BigGuard Rule - If someone has two guesses in the same post, for humor or other purposes, I will use the first guess unless it is very obvious that the 2nd one is the 'real' guess... so try to be clear.
    - The Lizard King Rule – In order to qualify for the honorary tile of most wrong, guesses must be at least somewhat within reason. Nothing over 60 points scored for instance is probably reasonable for either team this week.
-The Globe Rule – If more than one player has the same net differential, but at least one has picked the correct team to win...then no “Closest To The Pin” Trophy will be awarded that week.
-The Trojan Eternity Clarification – If a contest inadvertently (or otherwise) makes more than one pick, the last pick will be the one used for the purposes of the competition. Technically, this would be the “last” pick.

A Season Long Champion will also be crowned:
-each week we will calculate the 'average' net points for any participant that has picks in at least 2/3 of the available games.
-We will include all games through the regular season in this format. However, once any playoffs or post season games begin, you MUST play those games in order to continue on to become the season champion. It's sort of like the Fed Ex Cup.

    Beat the Bruins!

Last week I had predicted Cal would win 23-19.

If Cal wouldn't have been flagged for holding during their QB's 90 yard run and if Helton's playcalling wouldn't have translated into the Trojans underachieving more than expected...I would have been spot on.

    bRuins 34

    Trojans 28

    Final...nail in Helton's coffin.

I've seen bad teams win in this series, and UCLA is almost always a tough out for us at the Rose Bowl, even when they're bad.

And the simple fact is that teams who have quit don't fare well in this series. After the bad snap last week, USC quit. It's going to be a long day.

bruins 31, put us out of our misery 20

From the PAC 12 Power Rankings

    UCLA
Bruins would be dead last in the country in third-down defense — opponents are converting at a rate of 50 percent — if it weren’t for Oregon State.

    For what it's worth

If the team hasnt quit, there is a better than even chance SC wins this one. But, I cant help but think that our D allowed a brain dead Cal offense to score 13 points...... UCLA will score more.

They are going to amass loads of penalty yardage on poor sportsmanship penalties as well, because if you thought the Cal game was chippy......

I'm so overwrought by trying to figure this team out. I guess I should add a weighted cyclic component to the mix and then an offset for lack of morale at this point. It's getting to be like throwing darts at a board. How about 24-21 good guys...

and if USC doesn't fumble and goes up 21-0 at the half, you would have been way off.

    "if" only.

My "if" was a lot closer to the actual outcome than yours.

As weird as it sounds I think we have very little chance of beating a team that's 2-8.

Throughout USC football history when their top running backs went down there's always been a true freshman who introduces himself during these rivalry games and wins the day...Markese Stepp, come on down!

as usual, who the heck knows what the deal is with SC. Ruins seem to be playing good teams closer and not getting blown out....but also playing bad teams close and losing. we are a bad team. I think we have a STRONG chance of losing this game - but I'm going to go with my gut and say we win.
