Getting an early start for next weekend’s big game. Colorado has ASU at home this weekend and if they can win that game they will come to the Coliseum as the Pac 12’s only undefeated team.

Post your best prediction of the final score for this next game. We will announce winners after the game.

To see last week’s winners, click here and scroll down: https://wearesc.com/forum/index.php?threads/official-arizona-game-prediction-thread.54851/page-4

The Basic Rules of tabulation this week will be as follows:
*We will track predicted scores (one guess per person) and come up with a winner by 'least cumulative variance.' That is, the real variance of each team's guess added together.
*If two people have given the same score, then the first one that gave the score is the winner. Other than that, there could be co-champions. if two people have given different scores, but have the same cumulative variance.
*Edits to posted scores will be allowed until game time, but as above if there is a duplicate, the time posted for the earlier guess will be the winner...so be careful.
*If the least cumulative variance happens to pick the wrong winner, they will be awarded "Closest to the Pin,' but the overall winner must guess the winning team correctly.
*A 'Most Wrong' Award will be given out for the guess with the largest cumulative variance.

Please Observe The Following Honorary Rules:
-The Cardinal & Gold Rule - Whole numbers only. Fractional numbers will be rounded up.
-The NorCalSurfer Rule – No ‘Negative’ score predictions
-The BigGuard Rule - If someone has two guesses in the same post, for humor or other purposes, I will use the first guess unless it is very obvious that the 2nd one is the 'real' guess... so try to be clear.
    - The Lizard King Rule – In order to qualify for the honorary tile of most wrong, guesses must be at least somewhat within reason. Nothing over 60 points scored for instance is probably reasonable for either team this week.
-The Globe Rule – If more than one player has the same net differential, but at least one has picked the correct team to win...then no “Closest To The Pin” Trophy will be awarded that week.

*No more guesses or changes after kickoff.

A Season Long Champion will also be crowned:
-each week we will calculate the 'average' net points for any participant that has picks in at least 2/3 of the available games.
-We will include all games through the regular season in this format. However, once any playoffs or post season games begin, you MUST play those games in order to continue on to become the season champion. It's sort of like the Fed Ex Cup.

    Beat the Buffs!

I'm confident USC wins this matchup. We're at home, and have way more talent. I believe our finesse style of play will pull out the win here, and as I've noted in other threads, I'm standing by my 8-4 regular season prediction--a prediction which requires we beat CU at home.

Predicting a score is more difficult here, however. I'll go with USC 30 CU 24.

Team has no fire. Cam, Porter, Tell, Ced, need to light a fire under their teammates and stoke it for all they're worth. USC will get severely out-coached but have enough athletes who can improvise regardless of crappy playcalling and lousy defensive schemes.

    USC - 27
    Ralphies - 19

Not buying the hype yet on Colorado. Should have lost at Nebraska and NU is a dumpster fire. Haven't beat anyone else (including the Gutties). Montez is the type of QB that Clancy should be able to dial up the pressure on - but we haven't seen that yet. Biggie needs to cover Shenault all game. SC 27 - CU 17.

In order to be successful, the USC defense has to limit Colorado's gains on 1st down. Then force 3rd and long, so Montez can't run for first downs. I don't think their defense is athletic enough to stop us. However, Toa snapping issues will continue and turn 2TD into FG.

by the numbers this is a close game that seems to favor CU.

I am banking on them falling flat this week due to 1) hearing how great they are all week and 2) just plain wearing down.

I predict SC will underachieve once again under the subpar leadership/coaching of Helton & Co. Talent should give SC a closer victory than we may prefer...

    30-27 SC.

Talent prevails over coaching on this one.
