I heard that figure from Cowherd, who said, quote, "15 to 20 million."

Cowherd doesn't know, how would he? when folks far closer to the program say otherwise or can't even get a number confirmed

TOS says it lower than that

Stanford with 27 injured and out players leads Notre Dame 17-7.

I think the real key to the Helton decision is if Sana’a is willing to bring on Helton as OC or some other similar role.
    Kidding then Sark.
Helton can’t leave unless Bama has an opening.

Cowherd looks to be repeating the numbers thrown around for Helton and the whole staff. I don’t know if that’s accurate or not. I’m pretty sure Helton’s actual buyout will be substantially lower.

Just to point out the obvious about the the 25-30 record of USC's last five opponents they beat.... of course it is going to be close to .500. These teams play each other every year, along with a couple of non-conference cream puffs. It's pretty much impossible for it to be too much lower than that, especially with WSU, UW, and Stanford tanking in the North.

So Cowherd has no sources and simply made the figure up?

You should call Cowherd up and tell him to "stop spreading lies," then.

Cowherd don’t know shit about the buyout. The buyout is not significant to USC.

Regardless of what the exact buyout figure is and whether or not it's significant to USC, I'm pretty certain that Helton will keep his job -- especially if SC wins the bowl game.

Your the one repeating it maybe stop? because there's no way he knows anything about Mr. Fight's buyout. And even if that buyout was true, USC would cover it as it's chump change and not a barrier at all.

When's the last time anyone took Herd's "sources" serious? he usually campaigns, he doesn't do scoops.

    good for you

You're assuming Helton isn't fired after this weekend.

Final score 45 - 24 ND. No suprise. Let's get serious and except the fact that CH will be back next year
Let's focus on what chsnges in his coaching staff is needed ti improve on this year's performane. SC needs some changes besides a HC they are not going to get. Get over it and move on.

No amount of changes to the staff will absolve him being a bad coach.

An individual that will never go, to the CFP given his lack of ability to form a consistent program and stop fielding undisciplined teams. That doesn't tackle during practice. And he had every freaking chance last year to make full-on changes, but he didn't.

I accept nothing less than him being let go and the fact that you don't is sad. Never going to "get over it" because getting over it means being ok with mediocrity and wasting a talented roster.

I'm a realist. I don't live in the "what if" like so many on this list
I agree with you in every aspect of CH's ability to coach but I also feel that it is more positive to focus our energy on the USC football player who showed me a lot this year. We are stuck with Clay like it or not. You can continue to bad mouth the Administration to no avail or move forward. Your choice. If CH is replaced between now and then great. But we minions on this blog have no influence. Get over yourselves.

Well, that's obvious, of course, it's my choice.

You can be you, and I can be me. I don't accept mediocrity, you can accept it as a "realist" but I won't.

So there's nothing to get over myself about, so let me be a realist real quick. No amount of rainbows or blind positivity will make the mediocrity better. But apathy will, as that energy can be better used in other places because the players will play regardless. So it doesn't much matter, because I know what's being wasted.

Hopefully, they do themselves a favor and go to another program that cares about winning and going to the CFP. Now that's pragmaticism.

So you think a change in HC is an automstic place on the CFP. Hiring an HC with the believe they can get you into the CFP is a pipe dream. What will you say in 3 - 4 years when that doesn't happen. Figure out the odds. 4 in a 136 chance. Get real. Maybe CH needs to be replaced it just isn't going to happen this time around.

Personally, I'd like to see Meyer or maybe Del Rio as HC. I just don't think that's going to happen this year.

If Rio was that good, he would be an HC right now at a college or somewhere else. But he's not, so he's not a choice at all.
