Greg, in the QB thread I predicted you will go with the first 4 RB Heisman winners and pick Iron Mike over Reggie. So you surprised me here but you made the right choice. Helping us win NCs should be a key factor for being on Mt Rushmore.

I agree with all the choices here.

Arnett, Iron Mike, AD and Ricky do deserve the honorable mention which they did get in your column.

The WR one may even be more difficult. Looking forward to that one.

Fun read! I agree with the first three...

    My order:

    1) OJ
    2) Marcus
    3) Charlie
    4) Lendale

Hi J4SC75. Yes, following next week's Mount Rushmore for receivers, we will name our four fullbacks for the O/NSO fullbacks. Thank for asking. Greg

Wow, this is a tough one, but a very fun subject to opine on, especially for us old timers. It's not like QB where there are the two Heisman winners, Rodney Peete, then a lot of good ones not on their level.

I think the two clear-cut tailbacks are Simpson (obvious) and Charles White. White just kept coming, carry after carry, piling up yards and TDs. I'm still baffled by how he didn't make it in the pros. Could it be that he didn't have SC's line to run behind?

I'm not necessarily in the Marcus Allen camp because IMO he was only spectacular for one season. I guess because of that season and his versatility he has to be included.

I'm going with AD as my fourth. I know Reggie, Garrett and Bell were awesome too, but can't un-see what I saw in those Notre Dame games.

Cocaine addiction had a lot to do with it. Thank God he didn't die. He's doing well and that's a blessing among his many blessings : )

Whoa...a 9-year NFL career, 1 Pro Bowl, a 1300 yd season, Comeback Player of Year is not making it? OK, not the overall production you envision for a 1st rounder, but "not making it" is a bit harsh I think, no?

Neither one of them was as electrifying as Simpson, IMO.

Never saw Simpson play, but have read volumes about him, how he seemed almost superhuman in having that ultimate combo of speed, quickness, instincts, size, toughness, and being a charismatic leader to boot.

When I was a student, I happened to see Charles White at the Burger King across the street on Jefferson. This was when he was an assistant coach for John Robinson. Dude looked like he could probably still beat out the current RBs we had on the roster.

Simpson was the greatest back, but, for me, Arnett was the more electifying, ...running, receiving, passing, punt and kick returning, and placekicking. As Great as OJ was, he did not have Arnett's great balance, shiftiness, tumbling ability.

All great choices. I give an extra nod to those that played outstanding fullback roles as well. Get a bigger mountain and put AD and Ricky up there too.

Simpson and Reggie would make anyone an OC genius.

Marcus Allen is right there as well -- what a dominant athlete!

5-way tie for fourth? LenDale's up there too but for having to share the stage with Reggie.
