Wow that was a great tribute-thank you so much for writing it.

Loved the pictures too, especially the one with Ryan Davidson who is also greatly missed.

Does anyone know what became of Ricky Rosas? Did he follow Pete to Seattle?

We miss you Garry!! Keep fighting on up there!

thank you for reposting your wonderful tribute from two years ago . I never met Garry but felt like I knew him through his appearances in the media and this site
Our Trojan family is a lesser place without him
May his extended family know that his legacy will live forever
    Thanks again Greg

    Greg:
Great idea to repost this tribute. I was privileged to meet Garry one day at practice (back in the days when a fan could just walk in and observe). I recognized Garry and introduced myself. He treated me like a long-time regular at practice. So down to earth.
The thing which I thought best about Garry was that if he posted something that was the gold standard. You could totally rely on him.
As you say, he always looked for the positives about USC and the football team. I really wonder what he would be saying today at this sadly low point in the team's history.

Garry was the Great Captain with the steady hand steering the WeAreSC ship through both calm and troubled waters. He always got us to safe harbor.

    Great Man.

Thanks for sharing this Greg. In addition to his work on WeAreSC, I loved listening to Garry on the radio on Letter of Intent day. I'd find a way to take a long break or as long of a lunch as I could get away with. And then of course we could watch him summarize the class on Prime Ticket. I miss those days - it was fun.

I think Garry would be very proud of the job you are doing with his website Greg and Erik. I still spend way more time on the site than I should, but it's worth it! Thanks for everything.

Thanks for sharing this, again. I was on a general college football board on ESPN when the news of the NCAA sanctions broke in 2010. Someone on that board referred me to WeAreSC, to get insight from those who knew what was going on. It is one thing to run a sports site when things are going great --- but it is a valuable service for fans during the tough times. I didn't know him, but he was always responsive and helpful. Fight on, forever.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for sharing the previously written article remembering Garry. Even though I see his name on the site whenever I log in (which is welcoming), it's good to pause and remember him a little more deeply from time to time. We have a lot to be grateful for, which is easy to overlook these days. I'm certainly grateful for everything Garry did for USC and for WeAreSC.

I believe Garry would be very happy with the work of Erik, yourself and the other contributors to WeAreSC. You guys should feel good about that.

One last note: I met Garry in Northern California (San Carlos to be exact) on one of his treks up here to host a USC dinner. I met him early in the festivities as people where mingling before dinner. Next thing I knew I was sitting next to him at dinner which was an added bonus. At one point he stood up and spoke to the group about the state of USC football. Great memory for me. I wish I could remember the year, but my guess is like 2012.

I miss you, G. Very much. So many things to miss. I always got a chuckle when you talked about your favorite Song Girl...that little twinkle in your eye.

Garry loved USC football and when you talked to him in person or saw him speak about it you could feel his enthusiasm. God bless Garry!
