The Mid-American Conference announced this morning that it will postpone all fall sports to the spring. That isn’t necessarily going to affect the Power 5 conferences, but it isn’t insignificant.

The Big Ten then announced that schools cannot proceed past the two-day acclimatization period, telling programs that they must remain in helmets at this time.

This statement in the announcement feels fairly ominous: “We understand there are many questions regarding how this impacts schedules, as well as the feasibility of proceeding forward with the season at all. As we have consistently stated, we will continue to evaluate daily, while relying on our medical experts, to make the best decisions possible for the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes.”

The Big Ten has put itself in a bit of a bind by starting the season in early September, though I believe that it, like the Pac-12, built early games into the schedule that can be postponed.

If Gavin Newsom has his way, there will be no college football in California this year. He will happily exercise his nearly dictatorial powers. But watch - the NFL will play on because they're "essential."

Newsom has said he is waiting for vaccine. Ditto Garcetti. There will be no fans in Coli or Rose Bowl this fall.

I didn't know that the MAC schools had been planning on relocating to California or LA County/City.

Does it even matter? Whatever the 2020 season is will be considered a joke in years ahead.

I kind of hope it doesn't happen now. Have you watched baseball lately? What a joke! I'd just as soon not have a half-assed football season. Think I'll watch the golf. That was good yesterday.
