Yesterday Rai Benjamin set a school record in the 400m hurdles at 47.98. USC is doing well at the west regionals in Sacramento.

Great time by Benjamin. Hopefully he brings it home.

Too bad the men dropped the baton in the 4x100. I was really looking forward to seeing them put down a serious time.

Injuries happen but it seems every year the SC men leave points on the table. This year 30 to 50 points were lost. Cunningham in the high jump, Morris in the 110 hurdles, Sloan's constant injuries in the TJ, Shinnick not being 100%, Norman not running the 200 and the dropped baton.

Agree with everything except Norman in the 200. We don't have that kind of depth to have him run 2 relays, the 400 and the 200. What's that old saying, don't treat your race horse like a plow horse.

I agree. So Sloan is hurt, again. That is a shame. Lost points with Katnick not throwing this year, as well.

With the results from the Western Regional Meet now in, I would guess that the SC Men have a solid lock of scoring 30 points in the 400, 400 hurdles and 4 x 400 relay. In order for us to have a chance at the national championship, we would need to score (I think) between 50 - 60 points. Given our current critical injuries and the lack of a 4 x 100 relay team, I don't see where the extra points might come from? However, there may be some potential points coming from Ford (800), Morgan (400), Ponzi (shot) and Brock (100), but these are long shots.

The Women on the other hand, would appear to be in great shape to score at least 50 points. These would be coming from the 400, 400 hurdles, 100, 200, 100 hurdles, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays. This upcoming National Meet will be exciting to watch as Trojan fans. Fight On!

You might add Sears in the high jump as an long shot. Think the best the men could hope is to finish in the top five with Norman, Benjamin and the 1600 relay killing it!! Think they will score in the mid to high 30's.

The women need to be in the top three in all events entered to have a shot. Possible first in the 100, 100 hurdles and 400. It can be done!
