So hard to watch UCLA rolling in baseball...wish Haden wasn’t so fuckin lazy and hade made Savage an offering he couldn’t refuse!! Hope we don’t continue to make the same mistake over & over & over again!! Lazy searches and incestual promotions from within the program!

Can't change the past. Tremendous opportunity for SC to get back with a great coach.
The Haden-Savage attempt was a farce. Swann hasn't shown any interest in baseball, much less knowledge.
Will see what happens, so far not impressed by the "national search". Get a name coach or it will be another decade at the bottom of the Pac-12 and that will be it/over.

    And another thing...........
The scenario where Oregon/Knight$$$$ pay big to get Checketts
and SC goes Stankiewicz, is another farce. Isn't here a golf course near Durham where Swann could golf it up and do a brief interview at Duke?

I said this above, and now that they have beaten the uglies in the LA Super Regional, who do you want to coach at SC? This is the guy we should be going for and not a Grand Canyon coach. Wouldn't bet that Scott Wolfe knows anything - he has been wrong more than he has been right in the last decade.

Bakich would be terrific, Michigan team is a great bunch of guys that play smart baseball. Unfortunately, Wolf isn't the only source mentioning Stankiewicz for SC. If our "national search" is interviewing a bunch of local coaches and selecting Stankiewicz then expect more of the same results.........nothing spectacular, some 30 win seasons if we are fortunate. A big opportunity for SC with the correct choice......will see.

I hear you, hoping that the fact that there is no announcement is a sign that the choice will come from Omaha.

Stankiewicz would be a disaster of a hire. Has the best facilities in the WAC but really hasn't capitalised. I thought you were supposed to excel at a lower level to earn a job like USC's.

Why not Rich Hill out of USD? Private school in a much tougher conference than the WAC and he wins. One line from his bio:
"He is the youngest active coach with 1000 wins and the winningest coach in the WCC—both current and all-time."

Mid 50's, the right age to make a final career move. He already recruits SoCal, has the necessary relationships with HS coaches set...but, no, like Kreuter Stanky played in the majors.

Horton, Serrano, all better than Stanky. I'd go with Hill but surely we can do better than this dude.

I agree. Stankiewicz's record is not impressive. The SC job should go to a coach with an outstanding record.
It's been almost two decades of crap. You want some more of that? That's what we are going to get.
More kids run the ballpark after games and junk like that. Beyond disgusted, this is not a national search.
Turkued, great to have your comments. Athletic Dept. is not listening to either of us. More of the Haden "rational minds" approach, I know more than you, fans/ alumni. Hope Dr. Folt cleans house quickly, enough is enough.

Ever hear of Dabo Swinney at Clemson who was an asst. with Alabama before Head coach winning 2 National Titles
in football? An 11 yr, head coach at LMU is not my choice of the right kind of experience never getting to the CWS

Think Lane Kiffin, Chad Krueter, Dan Hubbs, no experience. To each is own though. I'll take a head coach with experience over an asst any day. SC baseball/SC football is not a learn on the job position. Doubt LSU/ Texas baseball would give their baseball job to an asst. A bigger question looms as to SC upgrading Dedeaux Field and making it a showcase stadium. While it is a small venue, it could still become spectacular with some $$$. Recruits can be swayed by the atmosphere. At present, Dedeaux is not good and there is no fan support. The lack of interest in Trojan baseball is part of the problem. Let's see, 10,000 people at LSU v 150 at Dedeaux.....tough decision. Beavers, Sun Devils, etc all play to big crowds, we don't. Swann doesn't attend the games, say no more. Swann thinks we can play for the CWS "title". Let's get to a Super Regional next season. A trip to Omaha would be amazing, it's been since 2001.........anyone on this board remember those days? It will take more than filling a coaching position to get SC back on track. It starts with Gill and he's an upgrade from where we are now. Hubbs was a major disappointment, and his asst coaches even worse. Hoping Swann is removed soon, Dr. Folt attended Carolina baseball games and that program is looking good by comparison. It takes fan/alumni interest in baseball, not promotional giveaways. SC is only interested in putting $$$ into football, that is a mistake.

Cozy feel at the ballpark its relaxing and a nice getaway on campus. college isn't minor league buffoonery it's a fine line. Miss st is the opposite but it's all they got in that hillbilly town.

It's cozy, but attendance is terrible. The scoreboard is unreadable in the sun, the food is very bad. I'll take some buffoonery in the stands over buffoonery in the field that we have had since Gillespie "retired". Don't want to see the song girls dancing in front of our dugout with no fans behind. Parking $12, a joke. UCLA offers free weekday parking. Much needs to be changed to energize the program. SC needs to make baseball a priority, it can be done.
