Need to play better WR's

Well, pretty sure Cary Angeline is just a practice squad star, because he doesn't get plays called for him. He makes a ton of plays in practice.

Petite is the better blocker and has made some catches. Mostly balls dropped to his him by Darnold, but Angeline is better route runner and pass catcher in practice.

Just doesnt get the reps in games.

Don't get it.

 

Vaughns earned a lot more trust tonight from Sam and the staff.
We'll be seeing more of him as the season progresses.

 

He did have a nice reception for a first down and some nice blocks. He only had that one real bad drop, but so did others, and Sam threw another horrible pick, that was all his too. If they would have bounced the ball outside on that 4th and goal, it would have been a much different game. Texas totally sold out to the middle and we ran right at them.

 

Helton wake up!!!.
Greene is a great guy but he's getting manhandled by the CBs. He seldom gets open and he's dropped too many passes. 2 if not 3 of Sam's Int's are likely on him. Why recruit 4 and 5 star receivers if your going to play a guy who's learning the position. He should go back to QB right now he could win the back up role. Everyone sees this.

It's as if Helton and Baxter wants to shove Jalen Greene and Harris down our throats. Harris is not a punt returner. Same thing here he looks like he's just trying to survive out there. He's doing fine at CB and playing there so no need to use him on Special teams.

 

I think what's really hurting is the loss of Daniel I to not only Sam but the entire offense. You can only really count on Deontay Burnett to have solid hands and when he misses those are drove killers.

 

The receivers that would replace Jalen are young. To say they suck is just silly. These are guys fresh out of high school. This ain't the NFL. And stars don't mean crap. All that is a beauty pageant.

Tyler would have made a great stride had a he secured that catch, and he was very close. He's still a bit of a deer in the headlights but is showing signs. Jo Lewis has not been getting separation when he gets his chances.

Michael Pittman might be getting close to 100 percent and was in there some last night. I'd look for him to step up before the young guys.

For now, honestly Jalen was probably the best option with the most complete game. That will probably change soon.

 

Harris is not our most elusive punt returner. But he's out there for a reason, he secures the ball, and nothing is worse than a fumble deep in our own territory.

 

Can't really argue against that.

 

Every WR dropped a pass in this game. I am a little disappointed with Mitchell, and Green because they are the most veteran players. Why does Mitchell stop everytime hes running with The ball? Get all the yards you can, and get out of bounds! Geesh

 

He's horrible to me, makes bad decisions. Has no field position awareness

 

Mitchell is not good. It is not just drops, but he plays like a true freshman.
Why stop running and try and make a cut when you have 1 more yard for the first down.

And if he does not slip and his feet go out of bounds we lose that game.
He was actually trying to stop and cut back in field. He would have gotten maybe 1 more yard and probably the game clock expires and we lose.

He seems to have no football smarts. Not what you expect from a RS senior with 4 years under his belt.

 

Whoe nelly! Inexperienced receivers out there trying to help DB but give them time

 

I literally didn't even recognize him out there. Beast. Reminds me of a frosh JuJu Smith.
