See your point about a watered-down schedule not giving us clarity and hopefully closure with HCCH. I agree recruits will see through such a schedule.

My concern is the record book. Helton has done so much damage to it. Don't need any more blowout losses to complement our performance against Iowa. nd with Book back is a loss. So there, the series record gets more and more out of hand.

Threw up when 10 year extension predicted. Hoping to last long enough to see SC return to play off level. There will be no fans at Coli this season. Folt is my CV.

Great write up and agree 100%. SC is not supposed to dodge anyone. Otherwise, what have we become? I looked forward to Alabama and am glad some of the players also did (Amon Ra).

I think Chip hates UCLA. I think he has always hated UCLA. I think he took the job for one reason: to destroy the program he hates more than anything. You know, the way Pat Haden did at USC.

That is some classic stuff right there. Somewhere, someday Chip and Pat can laugh as they toast across the bows of their private yachts.

    Lol.
Chip’s yacht would be named ‘I call Phil Dad’ and Haden’s would be called ‘Swann made me look good’

Haden's yacht would be "Wasted Legacy." I can't improve on Chip's.

"I’ve seen quite a few Trojans – smart Trojans, people I respect – talking about how the move to a conference-only schedule is a good thing because USC can avoid Alabama and Notre Dame."
This has never been stated anywhere i can find on this board although changing an adjective or noun slightly here and there I could have said that... but I didn't and I never took anyone to be seriously convinced that missing Alabama was a "good thing".

Numerous folks have posted their wish that we stop scheduling good teams. Their reason: wins against bad teams (vs. losses against good teams) is the way to the CFP...and we've fallen so far that we don't measure up anymore.

It's silly, of course. The Pac 12 is too weak to justify a CFP spot just by beating up on bad teams, but there are, in fact, "fans" who are afraid to play the powerhouses USC has always played in the past.

That's because they are the young fans that have no clue about SC football history. And that in of itself is a bad thing that demonstrates just how long it's been since USC was elite. And that would be 2009. Eleven long years.
