The last time the golden gophers were worth a lick, lou Holtz was their coach. He quit to go to Notre dame. Maybe Fleck will come here next year?

Lol I brought up PJ Fleck here a few months ago and the majority of those who responded said he’s trash. Funny.

Now he's got a record of making 3 stars play like world beaters. We might need that!

I don't think most thought he was trash, just not a fit for SC. I worry about guys that don't have experience recruiting socal. That would be my only hangup with him. You have such a leg up at SC if you are a great recruiter.

I agree, I didn’t see any posts saying that he was trash, only unproven in their eyes. I disagreed, I’ve been on the Fleck bandwagon since he was at Western Michigan.

While you do have a leg up if you are a good recruiter, I think you have to be a good coach first. Sark was a good recruiter, but couldn’t produce on the field.

Fleck maybe a good coach, BUT he will not overcome Penn St, Wisconsin, O$U, Iowa or Michigan on a routine basis to win that conference. Maybe every few yrs, but not consistently.

I just dont think Minn has the luster or lure to bring bigtime recruits there over the other schools. Maybe Fleck can change that a bit by "doing more with less" in the meantime, but Minn has no history. They did get a lot of national attention as far as this year goes, but Fkeck will need 2, 3 or 4 years of big success to actually establish something at Minn.

Not likely at Minnesota. I don’t think Urban Meyer or Nick Saban would have been able to either early in their careers. Now, their names might be enough to draw high level recruits, Fleck doesn’t yet have that reputation.

No one in Big 10 can compete with OSU..
If he can turn Minnesota into a Wisconsin he will have been a huge success
Most likely a big time program will grab him
... big time .. that is not us

Pete Carroll didn't have experience Southern California and he did okay. Pete went out of his way to make connections, held camps for coaches, all the things that create pipelines. He also had the advantage of Ed O who was already making connections. Do you think Mario Cristobal had recruiting connections in SoCal? Those relationships can be created and with Fleck's persona he could do that quickly. Just sayin'

This is irrelevant because Fleck will not be at Minnesota for very much longer. He’s hit his ceiling at Minnesota, he knows it and everyone else knows it.
