Once again, to be a Graduate Assistant, you must be a College Graduate, and then enrolled in some kind of post graduate degree program.

It’s like what Chris Hawkins, Viane T and I believe Michael Hutchings are doing.

Also, once again, if Chris Claiborne had his degree, he would already be on the staff, not enrolled in classes, trying to get his degree.

If Rey Rey was able to spend every offseason weekend pounding Buds, and still managed to get into good-enough shape to be a Bednarik winner, All American college LB, drafted in the 2nd Rd (behind Laurinitus/Larry English), and go on to an 8 yr career (re-signed w/ Bungals)...that's more impressive than I thought!

There is a reason they both fell 20+ spots past their projections

Very true. Rey had problems with alcohol throughout his time at USC. I doubt he would have survived today's environment or coaching staff.

He's still got issues. Just 2 years ago...."Miami Dolphins linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested early Saturday, accused of grabbing a man by the throat and shoving him while refusing to pay a $40 bar tab." I believe that arrest was somewhere around 8AM...a 24-hour bar. This is not what USC needs for a coach.

Rey should start as the Head Coach of Eureka HS. Humboldt State has dropped football or that would be a great landing spot. Cousin Soma should join him.

I believe in redemption, and second chances. And if I recall Coach O had a few brawls and domestic disputes too -- although Ed obviously was able to grow and mature. But the fact that this Rey incident happened just two years ago -- and is part of a pattern with him -- tells me he has a ways to go before he can be trusted to set a good example and coach at a big-time program.

So there are some posters on this board that think the AD search should find a qualified person that has no ties to SC. Wouldn't that or shouldn't that be the case with coaches at SC? There was talk that when BKU was hired he would be a great coach of the DL. He was removed and Clay hired someone with way more qualifications to coach the DL and look where the line is at now.

Rey needs to build his resume and demonstrate he can coach. Loved his time as an SC LB, though.

Kenichi was removed, mostly because he and Clancy hated each other like poison. Maybe coach Chad is more qualified, but BKU was and is not a bad coach. Our team led the country in sacks under him one year, and he was putting players in the league. He was very popular with the players and extremely popular with recruits. I believe our talented roster looks a lot different without his presence on the staff. So far, I don’t see a huge difference in the D Line play. Don’t look at this as an indictment of Coach K. I have zero issues with him being here and was happy when we got him.

But the way BKU was treated? Yeah, I have a big fvcking issue with that.
