We’re here at the Coliseum for the press tour and have about 15 minutes before it starts.

There’s really only one way to describe the feeling when walking into this thing. It looks really good. For all the issues it has had, the tower, and the obstructed seats. It just plain looks really impressive.

We’ll have photos and video from the tour up later today.

I'll admit, it looks very good. But of course new seats, a new structure and a new field will look great in the California sun. That's never really been in doubt.

What really matters is this still a place where a working class and middle class family can get a decent seat? Those obstructed view seats are a cruel joke, honestly.

And besides wider aisles and a cup holder, are there any adds to the average fan experience? Better food vendors and better management of foot traffic on the concourse would be a great start.

I don't think anyone was against renovating the Coliseum, after decades of neglect it was long overdue. The problem most people have is the design USC settled on and the way long-time season ticket holders were treated.

I believe that will happen. I remember reading that the food vendors will be upgraded this year or next...Erik?

Um, yes there was a HUGE group that was anti any renovation. Change is difficult for some people.

I don't know what else USC could have done...just continued giving the same people the same seats for the same price? That's not good business when you just dumped $300 million into a stadium.

If you wanted the renovations, you should expect a ticket price increase (it's every school btw, not just USC).

If you wanted your ticket price and seats to never change, what other aspect in life stays the same forever?

I think we have all experienced something in our life that used to be affordable and now is not.

Greg Katz, repeatedly, and a little in disbelief: “I cannot believe how good this looks.”

I'd also like to see them do something creative with the concrete steps below the Peristyle. There's gotta be a better way to honor retired numbers than those god awful cardboard cutouts held down by wire. At least those are gone now.

I'd love see some type of monument park in that spot.

I think the real beef was that the tower extended so far into the bowl taking out support group seats rather than being on the rim like at the Rose Bowl.

The big mystery to me is how the Rose Bowl managed to get the tower, and its impact on the outside of the Rose Bowl, past the preservationists in Pasadena, while that was just impossible in LA, forcing the tower down into the seats. That was the explanation, but I thought the preservationists in Pasadena were at least as aggressive as the preservationists in LA.

Laker tickets were affordable once upon a time....lol

Nowadays, most college/pro sports are becoming too pricey for regular fans...

    SAD, really....

That was always my biggest beef with the remodel. I can't tell you the number of guys I know whose first interaction with the university was watching a game with their working class fathers in cheap seats purchased on game day. That will be the biggest unintended consequence of an otherwise necessary upgrade and haircut.

Exactly. It's just the times we live in. I have a ticket for a Lakers game in 1996...it was $20.50.

I was talking with some friends about the Rams new stadium...we plan on spending $300-500 for a ticket. I would never have spent that kind of money 5 years ago, but the experience of these new stadiums is really worth it.

    How do you do!

    Beautiful.

I sure hope we can get ESPN GameDay this year.

IF we ever get GameDay this season, there will be a lot of disappointed Helton-haters on this board because it will mean that SC is in a big game - which means that the season has been successful...... ESPN wont be coming just to see the flashy Coliseum.

I am excited for Saturday. I can't wait to see it....... I think it will remind me of when I had my F150 detailed before I traded it in in 2013. It was so beautiful that I ended up not trading it in for another half year

Looking at the schedule, it is unlikely. Maybe Oregon if both teams are highly ranked that late in the season. Like I said...unlikely.
