I say bring back Kenechi as the DC. He hated Pendergast and he was a strength and conditioning guy who actually wanted us to tackle in practice. He's a defensive analyst at LSU, so he's one of the few guys I could see jump

... on the chance to coach these players he knows. Also, I could see Mike Ekeler taking the job too. I'd take anything over Nansen at this point

Why would he leave LSU? Aranda just left, he’s a step further up on the staff.

Recruited these players, and no guarantee he even gets the DL Coach at LSU next year, he's an analyst. If he doesn't hate Helton I could see it.

BTW Mike Ekeler coached with our OC at north texas after he was at USC.

A young guy like BKU just starting out in coaching may not have the pull to force Helton's hand into more physical practices.

Great idea. Everything to gain, nothing to lose.
If he does a nice job, then great move for all.
If not, the whole staff gets canned next year and BKU has a year of DC in the books.

Love Kenechi, but that's too big a jump to go from defensive analyst to DC.

NFL guys like Barry and Richard most likely will look for or stay with NFL jobs, not come to SC.

I think they should go after Charlie Strong, who has been a great defensive coordinator in the past, just not a great head coach.

I agree about Kenechi, but I doubt he would ever work for Helton. They fired him when he was in the departure gate on his way to an in home in Arizona. I know some of the inside stuff of what was going on between him and Clancy and it was pretty bad. He basically said some of the the things he saw Clancy do made him want to throw up.

I agree on Charlie Strong, but I haven’t heard him mentioned as even a dark horse candidate. Look at it from his perspective. I’m pretty sure he had at least a year left on his USF contract, and I’m fairly certain it’s probably more money than we would pay him, by at least 100%, so he can just chill and put more in the bank and not taint himself by associating with this mess.

Considering where both programs are....he’d be a fool to leave.

I bet Ekeler would do a great job. The transformation in his unit the what, one year? he was here was profound. I've heard he has a head for the X's and O's game - and I looked at where he is now - he's already Special Teams Coordinator at KU, so on paper he can manage a whole phase of the game...
