Milton wants to be a feature back and doesn't want to divide carries.

Milton was afraid to go to OU because of Jase McClellan.
I like what we have at RB right now.
If we can get Adams or another of these second tier guys or even Bijan we will be alright.

Robinson isn't afraid to go somewhere with another elite back.

Let's see how this turns out.
Ohio State doesn't have much after Dobbins.
I think he ends up at Ohio State or UGA.
    Whoever loses with Marshawn Lloyd.

Lloyd isn't worried about playing with another 5 star back.

He is gonna have to compete wherever he goes

Even if when he signs there isn’t a highly touted guy ahead of him

What about the next class? Ask Jack Sears

    I am with you.
    I don't understand his mindset.

He was all USC and then all Oklahoma. Everyone thought he was going to Oklahoma. But Oklahoma is going with one of our targets McGowan as their #2.
This was after Milton said he wants to be an every down feature back.

I don't see him getting 25+ carries anywhere. Things may have changed or I was getting the wrong info.

I think ultimately we could still be in play here.

Programs aren’t doing the feature back thing like they did 10 years ago.
They come at you with a stable of RBs that all bring something different.

If wants to be that guy, he needs to be at a 2nd tier program where the gap between the #1 and #2 is so big that they have to keep him on the field.
Oregon would be an example and how they used Freeman.

Very good point about programs not using a feature back. It is short-sighted of Milton in my opinion to even want to carry the rock 25-30 times a game. The kid from Bama that the Raiders drafted in the 1st RD split time with 2 other Bama backs and was a 1st Rounder. Big reason was the limited amount of carries and wear and tear. Rb's have a short shelf life and if all of that is used in college than it decreases his NFL worth. If I were Miltons handlers I would have him go to a big-time program (for the exposure) and share time in the backfield to increase his worth to an NFL team.

We keep missing out on local top recruits. This is the type of back USC needs 6’2 220lbs

Another reason why I wonder who is his camp signing off on this.
Go to ANY school, keep some tred on the tires, develop your game for the next level and hit the ground running.

If they aren’t even looking for feature backs in the NFL, what makes you think they want that in the NCAA when they both try to mimic what the other is doing?

I am assuming this is a Ok lean based on location and history? Your thoughts where he will end up?

    Oklahoma is out
They moved on to McGowan as #2.
Georgia and LSU say they are the favorites but I think Ohio St.

But he is leaving room for a 5th OV

The Air Raid theme isn’t conducive to recruiting the top larger RBs.

How Harrell utilizes our RBs this season will be closely watched, as he emphasizes quickness and ability to catch out of the backfield.

I believe this is all centered on the lack of stability with this current coaching staff. A lot of top prospects are looking at how USC does this season and who will replace Helton. The media doesn't help USC's chances either when they never talk about the program in a positive light. I must say that USC will continue to lose out on top rated talent because the perception about the program is that it's not a place to go if you want to develop for the next level.

VM I agree with your entire analysis. Helton has left us with your 2 most salient points. Re The Media. Helton has led us to 5-7 and a terrible recruiting class hence there is no positive light. Re developing talent. It is not a perception the NFL has pretty much spoken. We had 4 players taken in the draft. The 2015 or this years senior class for NFL draft purposes was ranked number 1 in the country coming out of high school and Helton and friends drove those kids and that class over a cliff. 4 of those kids drafted. Disgraceful

This recruiting class has done better than you said actually. But then I ask why you’d make a comment like this??
Last year 3 members of this class were drafted in rds 1-3 (Sam - Rojo - Green)
This year 4 members were drafted in rds 3-5. (Biggie-Chuma-Tell-Cam)
This year there are a number still playing as Trojans (Houston-Bradley- Rector-Daniels)
There were also one who went off the rails and is doing jail time (Osa) and another (Jefferson) a scholastic casualty. who were getting extensive playing time as freshmen.
And how do you blame Porter on poor development?? He was just snake-bit. And one (Ricky Town) who left right after he met Sam.

When you put things in context, this class has done rather well. 7 drafted and Deontae, who was a redshirted 3* still playing and several still playing. Houston and rector have decent chances to make the draft get.

Oh, and 3 in that class came in as JC transfers (Whitney-Hampton-Scott)

26 kids. 18 4/5 star players. 1 1st rd draft pick (and Helton almost screwed that up by playing Browne). You are making my point. Your justifying and advocating for mediocrity is part of the problem. Please stop! We are USC we should be developing these kids better. Another reason why recruits are not coming. 1 1st Rd pick. It is really not hard to say it. We are not developing players like we use to. You are not the coach stunting these players growth so why do you need to defend Helton.

Why am I making this comment because I am disappointed to see my fellow trojan alums NFL dreams being taken by a coach who cared more about paying his family and friends then our players development.
