PERFECT. If he plays and performs at a high level he could parlay this opportunity into being a high draft choice.

Fight On Jack! Best football news about Mr. Sears in a long time

Gotta beat out Hank Bachmeier first. He started as a true freshman last year.

Good luck Jack. Seems like he made a good choice. I am happy he is not going to play against us.

So Sears decided to leave a big program, to go to a smaller program with the exact same setup?
You leave USC early in the year, who ended up having a true freshman QB in Slovis.
You transfer to Boise State where you have a true sophomore in Bachmeier, who also started the entire season, and a RS Sophomore and RS Junior on the depth chart?
I REALLY hope that Sears believes that he can beat out Bachmeier, or this move would have made little to no sense to me at all if he ends up anything less than the starter.

He is an upgrade for Boise. He will start immediately. Boise will know how to use him. His mobility and run options are a much better fit.

That is one way to look at even as wrong as it is.
You may also consider that USC just fired him by moving him to fourth string. He didn't quit exactly but he got the big fat hint then and another one when no one other than SD State and BS offered.

    Good luck to former trojans.

He'll be a quality backup at BSU and a great low-risk pickup for them. I can't recall the last "mobile" QB at BSU. That's not exactly a "feature" of their offense.

If I recall, Sears was demoted for his inability to read defenses and make the correct throw; instead, pulling the ball down to run or making an incorrect read. If that pattern persists at BSU, it won't work there either.

I thought he'd go to a school that had a dumbed-down offense where he could just "wing it" and improvise while using his athleticism...BSU is not that.

Either way, wish him well and BSU should have a solid backup should anything happen to Backmeier.

Best of luck Jack, I’ll be tolerating that hideous turf to watch more Boise State this year.

If he doesn't start by game 5, I could see him either convert to WR or be used like Taysom Hill for the Saints as trickery option. He's athletic and has a fantastic arm...as long as you limit his options and predesignate who he should throw to.

BSU has a long history of trickeration plays and using them well.

Once midseason comes and goes and he doesn't start, the NFL dream is absolutely over. Might as well have fun and get something out of his college playing career.

Sears lost out because Slovis is flat out a near future Heisman candidate. Washington destroyed Boise State 38-7 and Bachmeier threw 2 pics w/o a TD pass. I imagine Sears will flourish in a multiple option offense where his athleticism can be maximized. Roll outs and read options are a good fit for Sears.

I am torn on this one. Wishing Jack the absolute best for his future. On the other hand, the boise fans are second only to quack fans for rudeness and arrogance. I can’t root for boise. Ever.

I think Sears can beat out an eight game starting QB not ranked in the top 100 with a QB rating somewhere in the mediocre 140 range. The question is can Bachmeier hold off Jack. In 8 games Hank carried the ball 41 times. Boise St. does run their QB. Now imagine if their QB can take it up field the way Jack can. As far as passing ability I don't see Hank challenging Sears. Jack's a smart guy. Reading defenses comes with reps, which he didn't get much of at USC because of Helton's heavy lean towards Daniels. My prediction: Boise St. has a new starter on opening day named Jack Sears.

Lol. Yeah, two complementary colors that have been waaaaay over emphasized at Boise. Yeesh.

My prediction = He will start the season coming off the bench. However he will get to start multiple games. BSU had three quarterbacks start multiple games last season.
