That would make sense. I saw on another board that he has a sports facility in Thousand Oaks or somewhere up there and his daughter was involved in a travel team tournament there. The poster said his daughter was playing there yesterday and Kobe and his daughter were there too, and they were supposed to play today too

Words can't even describe the emotions I am feeling today. I loved Kobe and everything he stood for as a competitor. What a tragic loss for Lakers fans, basketball fans, and Kobe fans. My heart goes out to his wife, daughters, family, friends, former teammates, and fans. I will wear my Lakers gear with even more pride. Rest In Paradise Kobe Bean Bryant.

Five souls lost: Kobe, his daughter, her teammate, a parent of the teammate and the helo pilot.

Make sure your loved ones know they are loved. This is so sad.

I didn’t think it could get sadder until I heard that four more had been killed.

The two posters who made a joke about this up above on this thread should be ashamed. I guess some will do anything to get a laugh. Pathetic...

Kobe's 13 year old daughter also died.

So far it looks like at least 3 teenage girls all on the same team were on board.

The Orange Coast College baseball coach, his wife, and daughter are among the victims.

I was not the biggest Kobe fan but I respected his work ethic and dedication to the Lakers. He bridged the gap between Jordan and LeBron, he is the last basketball player with old school ties. He truly exemplified what happens when hard work and once in a lifetime talent coincide. Best one on one player in basketball history, Jordan with a jump shot. RIP jelly bean.

I have no idea what to say because this is such an awful story. I was never a big fan of his as a player but admired him deeply as a man of character and integrity and a love of life as a whole. To lose someone whose best days were still ahead of him, as could be said of his daughter, is so, so very sad. And let's also remember all of the other victims in this as well, and pray for them and their families, even as we do for Kobe, Gianna, and the family they left behind.

not true exactly.. depending on what went wrong? Power out you auto gyro to a safe landing.
But did you see the image from above... they were flying pretty fast and went straight into a mountain. That is strange.

You don't have to be instrument trained to fly a helicopter, meaning you can fly a helicopter based on what you can see only, not on what the instruments are telling you. I don't know if the pilot was instrument trained, but he shouldn't have been flying obviously.
