I just switch browser to google chrome and the pop video is not on. I usually use Safari. I’m now going to use Chrome for this website. Try google chrome it should solve your problem

 

Erik the videos that keeps popping up are the videos from player and coaches interviews. It doesn’t appear to be advertisements. When I use Safari I get small pop up video lower right and also plays on top of the page (same video). When I use chrome the video only plays on top of the page but no pop up video.

 

The video is annoying but I can live with it

Then it is definitely worth it. But why Urban Meyer like? You can demand Jim Murray like salary demands, but then need to write daily columns.

Garry NEVER junked-up the board with this stupid video that repeatedly plays the same 3 stupid coaches interview again and again and again, while scrolling adds make a mess of the rest of the screen. It's beyond annoying and you know that Garry would never have stood for it.

Please respect his memory by not invoking his name to justify bad design.

Maybe not, but the site has to be paid for somehow. I don’t see that many paid memberships at the moment.

As far as I’m concerned, if they are maintaining the site and providing it free of charge, they can put all the ads they want in here. Hopefully, they choose the least invasive possible, but whatever it takes to keep the site up and running without mandatory subscriptions.

The previous USC forum I was a member of switched to a full subscription model and I left. On the positive side, I found WeAreSC.

There have been missteps all along the way, including some when Garry was still in charge. Some took longer to fix than others. I mean it took a couple years to get the top-of-thread jump option. Garry was willing to try things, just like Erik is doing now.

If there is one thing I am 100% sure of, it's that Erik is doing everything possible to respect Garry's memory and Garry's wishes for the board. I didn't see him trying to justify, but rather explain the options.

 

Not everyone who has paid annually has the Gold Member badge showing. No way to know how many have paid or not.

 

My ad blocker keeps it on the right margin. Might want to try that. It autoplays, however, which is annoying and a waste of bandwidth.

And plus - 99% of the content on the internet going away would be a feature not a bug. Most of it is crap filler to bait you for clicks to get your eyes on advertising. I've been on the "internet" since before there was a "world wide web" and before that, on BBS's, telnet, and usenet. I remember the days of connectivity before pervasive advertising. It was glorious. Clunky, limited in scope, (only for weirdos) and amazing. The current system is only positive if you accept the economic model of the current system. Different systems are possible.
