Yes but I'm considering the OP point he may be available and because he has USC ties. He may be willing to take a 1 year assignment to help the program. I don't think they are in a good position to get a top level guy. What if you hire a guy and Clay gets the tarmac treatment in week 3? You're SOL.

Any hiring/firing of assistant coaches, with Helton staying on as HC, just delays the inevitable. We'll face the same problem a year or two down the line again. It's like the Dems kicking the can down the road.

    Blow. It. All. Up.

Bringing Mike Riley as OC will only lead to him being given the interim head coach job when clay is fired mid season next year. Then the administration will give him the full time gig after "conducting a thorough search".

If Helton comes back there should be a stipulation that he only keeps the job until he loses a game.

We open against Bama by the way.......

Tide is opener 2020. If Clay is still HC I won’t bother flying to Texas again.

Saban shouldn't either. Just send a grad assistant to take care of it.

Helton stays... I “boycott” football until he goes. There is no “solution” that can include Uncle Clay staying!

CCH and Mike Riley??? Someone would think adding a bad coach to a bad coach will result in a good coach?

USC's problem goes way beyond just offense. It is the HC's spirit and brain that matter, and neither coach has neither!

As High Pitch says, if Mike Riley arrives, he will be the interim coach and then the permanent after the administration claims "a thorough search", and we will be out of mediocrity - into disaster and debris (just look at Nebraska and OSU).

    Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

I believe we can't hire someone as OC who may threaten Helton....so that's out, and we can't promote from within since no one is qualified. Screwed. Maybe Charlie Weis jr. wants to step up if LK will let him go. Lol! Seriously though, we all know this offense needs an overhaul if Helton stays, and he won't do it unless absolutely forced.

If we hired Mike Riley, we may not win, but we'd have the friendliest, nicest two guys in college football!
