Is Alvarez sending Trojan runners to the plate or are players running wild. This has been a season of terrible base running, with a very high number of players thrown out at the plate and picked off. FYI, two in one inning vs UCLA and then last night in the 8th inning. Don't run yourself out of the inning is a concept that SC doesn't understand. Trojans ahead 2-1 and instead of holding the runner at third with two outs.....Martinez attempted to score from second on that very short single. What a very bad decision! Ruined the momentum. These outs make the difference between a good team and a great team. It's the decision making not the ability of the Trojans that is hampering us. Whether it's coming from the coaches or the players it has to be addressed. Are we asking them to have sense that they don't have, but this is what's needed going forward. They think it's gutsy baseball, but it's very stupid baseball. Can't see Dedeaux allowing such garbage.

They had to sweep ASU to have a chance at post season play. Last night's loss ends the season.

Usually with two outs the third base coach is sendung that runner on second home on any base hit.

There is a reason why there is a third base coach, to asses each situation individually. Baseball America calls Martinez a "bottom-of-the-scale runner. Sending him on a ball barely behind the shortstop was crazy.
