I'm not lying. I strongly believe Charlie Strong would be great for USC. You, on the other hand, are a racist loser. Please note that there are a lot of fellow black people on this board who will also not be happy with you lashing out on someone for suggesting a black coach.

Thanks man! I agree, he would def. need a great OC. Maybe keep Graham Harrell? I think Charlie Strong discipline/defense plus Graham Harrell free flowing offense could be amazing!

USCsWAY this whole thread has gone right over your head - nobody would have minded if you had suggested Strong as a possible candidate for the job and then listed well reasoned ideas about why you think he would be a good fit. But to suggest the guy based on the fact that his skin is black is only going to get you ridiculed, and rightfully so.

Having black athletic directors for vast majority of the last 20+ years, it's hard to look at this from a racist angle. Mark Jackson (who is black) seems to be the emerging favorite to be the next AD.

Bottom line is that is that I don't think anyone will be looking at the color of the coaching candidates...just their ability to guide USC back to national prominence.

Franklin. The recruits would line up down Figueroa for him plus he'd win even more IF he got a good OC.

Since we know you're not a Trojan, I'm not going to even believe you're black without photographic evidence.
If you're impersonating a black man, you're not only a ruin troll, you're a racist.

I am also a red blooded African American. I see nothing wrong with anyone bringing up the possibility of a Black head coach, no matter what you accuse that poster of being. every time a coaches name is brought up, almost never, is the name of a Black head coach is mentioned. just saying

Agreed. Recalling the story of Charlie Pride, a black country singer with a real Mississippi twang who sent demo records to Owen Bradley famed producer in Nashville who summoned him to his office, probably not knowing he was black. This was in the 1960s. Upon meeting him Bradley and Chet Atkins said they "didn't care if he was green, good music will always sell".

The moral of the story is that real USC fans don't care about the color of the coach, only that he wins.

Agree and disagree... most of the names are white coaches, however, we have heard a lot about Dino Barbers and James Franklin (especially last yr), Hue Jackson and now we have Charlie Strong. Most of the names being mentioned are due to being considered winning or proven coaches.

I also follow TX and thought Strong was an awesome hire, I thought it was a tremendous move. He got top recruits, but for whatever reason, he did not get wins. I think, if given another year or two, maybe he could. BUT, truth is, he didn't produce and they grabbed Tom Herman, who is producing. Hell, I'll even throw another black HC who is doing decent, although at a school that is no football power and will never win their division, Derek Mason at Vandy has had a couple 7 or 8 win seasons I think.

I don't think it matters to anyone if a new HC is black or whatever... I think everyone on this board wants someone who is proven and can step in here with great coaches and kick some ass.

USC can get recruits, we need a coach who can 11 to 12 wins every year. If we do not schedule cupcakes to pad the win total, like everyone else does, who is that coach? Very few proven winners so every coach is a risky choice unless it is Meyer, Stoops or someone else who has a NC or Superbowl ring. An up and coming younger coach will eventually go to the NFL. Ex NFL guy will be able to sell his experience, similar to what Herm is doing at ASU. Quite a quandry. I vote Tony Dungy, but I doubt he would take it ✌

One reason NFL guys dont want it, is to avoid the chasing and convincing 16, 17 and 18 yr olds to come play for them. Winning will fix some of this, but there is a lot of time working with kids and letting them know how much you want them at your school. It is a different type of beast and to be good, you need a good staff and have to enjoy teaching the game.

Since we are throwing names out, why not David Shaw. Does pretty good with the athletes that are Stanford eligible. Imagine what he could do if he got USC athletes. Its not super exciting football, but it would seem to please the traditionalist who keep begging for less fancy offense and usage of the tight ends.
