    Confession: 5 times for me.

But guess what? USC didn't lose the game. That's right...we are 1-0 with a firm hold on 1st place in the South!

Going into halftime, Fresno State had all the momentum and USC didn't have a QB. I honestly thought we would see a 2nd half disaster resulting in a bad loss.

Yet, Slovis and USC outscored Fresno State by 1 point in the 2nd half. Wait, what? We outscored the opponent in the 1st half and the 2nd half? How do you do!

I thought USC won the game after walking out of the Coli but I'm not so sure based on what I am reading here today.

USC Football is 1-0, the sun is shining bright, and our team played until the last whistle. I can't remember feeling like this last year so I'll take it!

My only gripe....even I can't defend the last 6 minutes of clock mismanagement. Coach (pops) was screaming at GH to use some clock. Something to work on for week 2.

I think USC beat a very good Jeff Tedford team that will win 10+ games this year, easy.

I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity facing our team next Saturday.

FIGHT ON! BEAT THE FARM! SUPPORT THE PLAYERS AND COACHES!

The only time I thought they might lose the game was late with Fresno down by 8. I realized that what seemed like a few minutes earlier we were up 31-13, and I started getting visions of the Arizona State/Hail Sarky game from a few years back. But up until that point, I wasn’t thinking that Fresno had a real chance to win.

If that game made you feel good about the future of the program, far be it from me to take away your joy. You have four more days to revel in that victory. Enjoy it.

P.S. I never thought USC would lose that game.

Going into halftime, I was very nervous for obvious reasons. When Fresno State marched down the field on their 1st drive of the 2nd half, I was convinced USC would lose. Then it's 1st and Goal at the 9 yard line...and Falaniko makes a huge play to reverse the momentum!

When USC needed a BIG play, they made it. Velus Jones, Falaniko, Slovis to Vaughns, Pola-Mao INT.

We were 1-0 last year after a similar mediocre performance. How did that work out?

I never said that. The future of the program isn't reflected through a game against Fresno State.

I just know that USC is 1-0 and that should be celebrated.

Like I said last week, this is not a team where we can complain about how they are winning. Just Win Baby!

    How does Oregon feel today?
How does Florida State feel today?

It's almost as if most people on here WANTED a loss. Sorry to disappoint.

See, there you go taking away his joy. Why did you have to do that?

No, I'm not going to bite. I had this very argument with a whole series of posters after last year's UNLV game. I know what I saw. I know what's coming. I said my piece in Musings, and I'm not going to try to convince you to see what I saw.

As for people wanting a loss, can we stop with that silly slander, please? Nobody wants USC to lose. We just know where the program is and where it's going and don't feel very good about it.

    UNLV was 4-8 last year
Fresno State was 12-2 last year

    Nice comparison of 1st games

This is not last year's USC team

If USC lost...there would be joy on these boards. Fact.

Instead, everyone is miserable. Just read the threads.

This year's Fresno team is not last year's Fresno team. If the Fresno team from last Saturday wins 12 games, I'll eat my hat on video.

I didn't think we were going to lose but only because Fresno St. wasn't good enough to win. A mid-game change in QBs and turnovers kept it close. And even if Fresno scores at the end they have to convert a two-pointer and then win in OT. The odds were with us. That doesn't provide a lot of comfort though going forward.

If USC had shown real and substantial improvement, there would be joy on these boards. Instead, we saw more of the same and, yes, most of us are miserable about what's coming.

Again, if you thought that was a good win, enjoy it. I have no problem with that. But quit slandering the rest of us who know a continuation of bad football when we see it. Or do you really think that I want USC to lose? That Greg Katz wants USC to lose? That Kevin Bruce wants USC to lose? That dozens and dozens of lifelong USC fans on this board want USC to lose? Really, CP, we just see bad football and want it to change. It's no more complicated than that.

I do think this year’s Fresno team beats last year’s USC team. I think this Fresno team wins 10-12 games this year. However, this does not excuse the fundamental issues we saw on the field from USC.

There is bad football everywhere...and USC played pretty well up until the last 6 minutes.

    Did you see Florida?
    Did you see Michigan State?
    Did you see Oregon?
    Did you see Florida State?

Bad college football is not resolved with "fire one guy, hire another, and you fixed it!"

Just ask Notre Dame, your supposed GOAT of college football...31 years and counting.

And for the life of me...this negative talk about the DLine is incredible.

    3 sacks
    1 TFL
    1 Fumble caused and recovered
    2 pass deflections
Rivers rushed for 53 yards, 3.8 per

They missed Reyna on a couple plays, but at least they made him uncomfortable.

I thought the DLine got a solid B-.

If you aren't excited about Drake Jackson...oh me, oh my. Had a nice discussion with his family.

Just don't have the energy anymore to argue the point. I'm pretty sure I know what I watched, and what it means.... I hope I'm wrong, because bring right is overrated. Being wrong about Carroll was amazing. Being right about Sark sucked.
