How good is Slovis?

Will there be another QB competition when JT is healed?

 

JT needs to take that Proactiv skin and that porn stache to Oklahoma St., he is a perfect fit for Gundy and the cowpokes. Transfer portal here we come! I like JT, but he doesn't strike me as a guy that can be a backup. He was a great teammate to Slovis, but I can't see him sitting on the pine for the next three years, assuming he takes a redshirt.

 

If Urban Meyer becomes HC he got to keep Slovis as starter. I hope he has enough flexibility in his system to do that. Meyer's offense usually requires a QB that can run so the best passer may not start. That is why the Joe Burrow dude didn't start at Ohio State.

 

He won a national championship at Florida with a QB who isn’t a running threat, and another at Ohio St

 

Slovis is good enough to keep JT as the backup when he is healthy and ready to return. I like Slovis arm and deep throws way better than JT. He seems to drop the ball right into the receivers arms. Also love his toughness, sometimes it borderline on taking unnecessary hits but nonetheless, it shows he has heart.

 

He’s so good that it doubles the insult that the coaches cannot provide an adequate OLine or running game to maximize his potential plus minimize his chances of taking big hits....

This kid is special and finds ways to deliver the ball.

 

Slovis was at a huge disadvantage middle of the season when we had no running backs. This is what he can do with a full deck

 

But Urban Meyer prefers a spread offense, something neither Slovis nor JT can run. We have an offense that is humming now, and the whole Urban issue has become moot. SC will not change head coaches this year.

 

It's not dumb to give superior sized receivers the chance to catch 50/50 balls!

 

Running qbs are great until the get injured. Then not so great. Let see is Lamar Jackson has a longer career than Tom Brady

If JT stays he wouldn't win the QB competition. I don't think it would even be close. Slovis has a better arm, is developing fast on his reads, and is a better leader too.

I admire JT for being classy through the injury and helping Kedon get his feet wet. But JT would be a backup if he stayed. A good backup, but still a backup.

 

Two different backups have started this year. Any USC backup next year should be ready to go, especially if we can’t upgrade coach, OLine and running game.

 

If there is one knock on Slovis, it is that he's a bit fragile. JT will be very valuable as a backup, and will likely see meaningful minutes on the field next year.

 

Not true, Meyer's Offenses evolve depending on the QB. It doesn't matter though, Meyer is not coming to SC

 

Hate to say it, but I would let Kedon and JT transfer, if it meant not getting UM. Keep Clay, with Slovis, or neither? I really like Kedon's game, but there are 84 other players on a roster. Give me UM and let him bring in his type of QB, if the current guys don't fit.

 

I read somewhere (sorry I don't have the link) that the NFL has a way to measure accuracy of passes over ten yards and they, of course, use it for evaluating potential draft choices. Two weeks ago Slovis was ranked #2 in the country - behind only Joe Burrow. And, I believe, that was before the last two games.
