Not even a comparison. Helton should be a HS coach

Sark... without a doubt. Far superior offensive mind. Yes, he's got thoroughbreds to work with (at the moment) at 'Bama. Yet it's what he can do with them that seems to set himself apart from the likes of the great Clay Helton.

He’d lose there too. He should be an academic coordinator

Unbelievable! As a head coach Clay has a better record. Sark hasn't proven shit as a head coach. Helton haters are a special kind of stupid. Some here have actually claimed Paul Buddy Hackett was a better USC head coach.

Special kind of stupid? Have you looked in the mirror lately? You're the asshole who keeps running his mouth about how great Helton is. Shake yourself, your eyeballs are stuck.

Even though Helton held the OC position at one time, he never called plays. Kiffin and Sark both called their own plays. Trying to compare the offensive minds between Sark and Helton is no comparison. The difference between the two is that Helton was at the right place at the right time and sold both Haden & Swann bought into the “nice guy” persona. Sark addressed his demons and earned this huge opportunity at Texas. Can’t begrudge him for that....

Actually, Sark's USC record was better than Soft Serve's record. Pretty sad too, especially when you consider we were still coming down from sanctions and the guy was basically living with a Patron IV in his arm at the time, while also being completely geeked out on Schedule II narcotics. That's how bad of a coach Helton is. He can't even put together a better winning percentage than a black out drinker/pill popper who had to deal with the after effects of sanctions. Hard to cheerlead honestly for a guy like that! But whatever, we all know your cheerleading isn't done in good faith.

This post is exactly why anyone with a pulse cannot figure out why the hell Helton is still a coach.....anywhere.

Sark is one of those guys who is an excellent coordinator, but a mediocre-to-poor HC. Norm Chow is St. Norm the Chessmaster around here, but he too, was a poor HC.

Helton wasn't even proven as a coordinator when he got tapped for the HC role, so it's hard to say what he might have done had he been an OC for a few years under at least a competent HC, but he, like Sark and Chow, is likewise a poor HC.

The only people who are happy to see Clay Helton continue as USC's coach are Bruin fans. I know personally one who clowned me mercilessly when Helton was given that ridiculous extension, and who is still happy that Helton is our coach in spite of him punking Chip Kelly two years in a row.

Now, if Chip Kelly, even after his past three seasons of mostly sucking, had said "We are trending upward," there are signs (and his past record) to actually believe him.

Clay Helton? Eh - not so much.

It will be interesting to see how Sark 2.0 does as a HC.

Really? I'll wait while you list the years Suckisian as USC head coach won a conference title and Rose Bowl. Feel free to post photographic evidence like this.

Agreed. I'd have been far more willing to roll the dice on him post-Saban, but hiring him from UDub was just dumb-dumb-dumb. As it is, he had his chance here and I don't think he should be given a chance to come back, even if Sark 2.0 turns out to be pretty good.
