    USC'S wasteful spending for decades.

    Shortfall my ass.

Tired of my school and the poor me attitude.

Fight on! Beat the Tide! Fight on!

I’m sure there will be some. But that’s almost 1/3 of his salary, far more than most other HC’s that I’ve been hearing about who have taken pay cuts.

I’m not so concerned about his salary, so much as his position as HC. He should have been replaced.

It’s a combined $1 million, so less than 1/3 of his salary, but still a big gesture.

Helton should return all of his salary. And even contribute additional money to the Urban Meyer recruitment fund.

I agree, I mean he shouldn't even be there and he isn't worth even the 1/3 third he is returning. Ugh

Not a fan of the head coach but I'm not going to judge or spit on the gesture. I do believe it was with good intention.

If there's no regular CFB season this year Helton and all the coaching staff should return a large part of their salaries to the school. I vote for 50 % return. Why should they be paid large salaries d for no effort. It's almost vacation time for them. Same should apply across he CFB Spectrum, nation wide.

I understand the issue with Helton, but I have concerns about why USC, with billions in endowments and who thumbed their noses at the boosters (including major donors) and fans with a stubborn refusal for 2 years now to dismiss an ineffective HC in their flagship sport, should now get a pass on paying him and the staff.

Hey Helton, you wanna make a really nice gesture that all USC fans want?

Keep your money and step down so USC can hire a real coach.

1 million combined. What is USC going to do with the money?

Give it to the fans who aren’t able to see games at the Coli.

Helton is not a bad guy but if there is blame it should go on Pat Haden.
Helton was not ready for the position.
He made rookie mistakes but seem to be learning 3 years too late.
    It was a good gesture

    They shouldn
t get a pass on anything they're responsible for. IN Heltons' case, I think it's about the buyout money. CAn't blame them wanting to avoid that cost, but on the other hand it doesn't give them high marks on their concern for USC football quality. Neither of these two is a Trojan . That may be the reason.

In fairness the real evaluation of Helton's gesture should be done not in his success as a coach but rather what each of us would have done in his shoes. Then, and only then should you admire or criticize his voluntary deduction of salary.

When your boss, Folt is giving , all heads of departments are expected to follow suit. Happening at schools all across the country.
