Kind of reminds me of how congressional Democrats have been posturing about the way they feel about Trump voters.

Too bad Colorado repealed their death penalty a year ago in March. All three maniacs needed to be put down like dogs.

"A Florida dad who cut off his wife's lover's penis with scissors has been jailed for 20 years.

Alex Bonilla, 51, pleaded no contest to charges of kidnapping to inflict bodily harm, burglary while armed, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault with a firearm, for the attack on his 32-year-old next door neighbor.

According to Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office, on the morning of July 14, 2019, the father-of-five walked 50 yards from his trailer to the neighbor's home and broke in, armed with a gun.

The neighbor was making breakfast for his two daughters at the time; Bonilla told him he would kill him if he resisted, and then forced him into a bedroom, where he tied him up.

He then pulled down his underwear, tied a rubber band around the base of his genitals and "forcefully cut off the victim's penis with a pair of scissors," deputies said.

According to the police report, Bonilla then ran back across the street to his own home with the severed appendage.

Investigators never specified a motive for the assault; however they said Bonilla had discovered the neighbor having sex with his wife about two months prior."

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

comes from the 1697 tragedy The Mourning Bride by the English playwright William Congreve.

The play was popular in Congreve’s day, and it helped establish his career.

In The Mourning Bride, Almeria, daughter of King Manuel of Granada, secretly marries Alphonso, son of her father’s enemy. The newlyweds get separated in a shipwreck, and a disguised Alphonso gets captured by King Manuel. Manuel also captures the Moorish Queen Zara. To complicate matters, Zara falls in love with Alphonso and pretends to fall in love with Manuel. Ultimately, Manuel is mistakenly executed by his own orders, Zara kills herself, and Alphonso overthrows the government and is reunited with Almeria.

During Act 3, Scene 2, Zara discovers Alphonso and Almeria together, and says in a fit of jealousy and vengeance:

Heav’n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn’d,
Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn’d.

Zara laments the pains of love and romance using the duality of heaven and hell as metaphor and hyperbole.

    My noon hour aside.

William Congreve has been a subject of ours, in the past. The first line from the play you mentioned includes this phrase:

"Music has charms to sooth a savage breast"

    Other phrases by Congreve:

"Courtship is to marriage, as a very witty prologue to a very dull play."

"Delay not till tomorrow to be wise; tomorrow's sun to thee may never rise."

"I find we are growing serious, and then we are in great danger of being dull."

"There is in true Beauty, as in Courage, somewhat which narrow Souls cannot dare to admire."

"If this be not love, it is madness, and then it is pardonable."

"Married in haste, we may repent at leisure."

"O fie, Miss, you must not kiss and tell."

    Others.

    Another aside.

Maybe this asshole is a more modern version. He's the kind of guy that tends to be the genesis of said fury.

I don't particularly have a problem with that message. It wasn't delivered very well, but the message has been around for a long time. What he leaves out, though, is that men have the same obligation to their wives. Not only that, but each has an obligations to help each other in the process. You want to let yourself go and be unattractive to your spouse? Go be single. That goes for both men and women.

Not sure what this has to do with my post.
