I hear she does not like Southern California, in particular the Los Angeles area. That scares me, if Helton is fired and Meyer does not take the job, then where does USC go for a big name coach? Remember, most of these great coaches don't want this job because USC just does not pay for either the head coach or assistants. The cost of living here is triple what other major college towns cost, traffic among other less attractive things make the USC job unattractive. The only good aspect is it's USC and the talent rich area the school is in and that's getting smaller every year as young kids are moving away from football. It's not like the South where football is the only thing they have.

Don't be concerned... If you like Urban Meyer, then there are many others on the tainted coaching list to choose from...all these guys are still alive and not currently coaching.

    DJ Durkin
    Art Briles
    Jim Tressell
    Barry Switzer

Lots more to choose from further down the list also...

Why would you be concerned? There is a better chance of dis-interring John McKay's ashes to be the next coach than Meyer getting the job. Nobody in this administration is going to interview him, no less hire him. Get it? Besides his obvious baggage to the PC set (which still runs the university), nobody on the BOT is going to authorize the kind of salary it is going to take to get him.

    Which brings us back to........

    PETE!!

The one and only answer. Yeah, yeah, people would poop on the idea about the 2nd time around. But, hell, he’s the only one that would raise eyebrows around the nation and make opposing coaches uneasy. The campus and fanbase would be electric again, there’s no denying that.

    One can dream......LOL

(I know it’s not happening.....no need to rebut)

Good. Don't want Urban Meyer here. He comes with a lot of baggage and lets his program run amok when it comes to behavior and accountability. You can be sure that more scandals will come if Urban is our coach.

    Yet Peterson was still interested.

Jack Del Rio pretty much said on the radio this morning he’d accept a job offer if asked. Yeah I know I know, people don’t like him for whatever reason, but he would do it. Interesting comments on our OLine too and team building in general.

Pete Carroll's time has come and gone q. College football is very different than it was when he was coaching at USC. It would be an epic failure bringing him back as the head coach. He would definitely add some excitement and energy, but I think we'd end up with JR part deux at best. Hard pass.

Pretty big leap there. Meyer likely isn't going to be offered the job, much less us worrying about him taking it.

The water polo coach was living in Palos Verdes. Fairly certain Harrell lives there or nearby as well. I have no doubt that a head coach could "make do" with a USC salary.

    Oh please.

It seems the water polo coach was making some extra money on the side. LOL

This assumption that UM is next in line for the job is a false one.

-'SC still has some big time bills to pay from various scandals and UM will be asking for a giant sack of money.

-'SC is also wary of any coach with a perception of condoning mistreatment of women.

-'SC does not hire coaches that are potentially a built in power center of the university. 'SC prefers its football coaches to be clearly subordinate coming in. (Only if they become big time winners to do they become powerful figures at the university, ala Pete.)

-It's far more likely 'SC hires a Del Rio, or a Kyle Whittingham, at best. I'd be OK with the latter. It's an improvement at least.

Would be great if we can get Urban but I am not counting on it. It would be incredible if we could get Pete back, but that’s not happening either. And if he came back it would not be like JRob2, he is too good and too competitive To let that happen. Coach O is not coming back either.

Last year when it was assumed Helton was going to be fired, there were reports we may go after Petersen or Franklin. But those guys seem happy in their current jobs and probably not interested.

Del Rio or Stoops are more realistic options. I take either one since it would be a major upgrade.
