I can't stand Haden as much as anyone here, but that article was written 6/5/2019 - kinda old news, wouldn't you say?

Were you aware that Haden was the person who introduced the Varsity Blues ringleader to Donna Heinel and that the FBI was investigating him? I wasn't....

Meh....the FBI has an email indicating when Singer met Haden through a client and that didn't happen until 4 years ago. This article came out in August and I thought we discussed it here.

"William “Rick” Singer was already deep into running a college admissions scam at USC when he tried to smooth talk the university’s athletic director, Pat Haden, over coffee at the Los Angeles Country Club.....Working under Haden’s nose, Singer had been bribing USC coaches and one of Haden’s top administrators for coveted admission slots that he sold to his wealthy clients, according to federal prosecutors.

But Singer had never met Haden....So, in May 2015, Singer leaned on an old client who knew Haden to make an introduction....

Singer’s courtship of Haden, pieced together through interviews and emails reviewed by The Times, offers a rare window into how Singer attempted to make inroads deep into USC’s senior leadership in apparent hopes of furthering his scheme to get the children of the wealthy into top colleges.....It also shows how Haden saw Singer as an unwitting conduit to one of Los Angeles’ richest men, underscoring the relentless focus on fund-raising so prevalent throughout the university."

This article doesn't corroborate the WSJ article.

If Singer or Heinel want to reduce their sentence and fine, they are going to sing, if there's a tune.

On a side note....I'm wondering what the bonus plan looks like for these administrators. How much do they get for every million they bring in?

No bonus for the VP's but a chance for advancement. Coaches did have an incentive plan for raising money. I find it interesting that the 300 plus work-study students that dial for dollars get no such incentive.

Well, there it is, yet another event that validates Haden as a corrupt low life. I have to wonder what else happened under his watch?

Makes you wonder about the Coliseum boondoggle, and how much he might benefitted personally from all that work that USC contracted?

It's very sad really, a true Trojan legend defacing the University's and his reputations in the ways suggested along with the ways we already actually know of. Even what we actually know is still hard to fathom even now

Heinel had to be incentivized. Jovan coaching 2 teams probably didn't leave a lot of time for fundraising. Maybe he was making up the gap in lost bonus by taking the payments from Singer/Heinel.

Change title to "Feds briefly looked at Haden" It was six months ago. There was nothing there. He met him once ...agreeing to meet with him as a favor to a friend of John McKay. If there was more to it, you would have heard by now.
