Who knows his game better than Max. In man-to-man D, let's tell Max to not give him an inch. Max knows his game as they went up against each other in practice every day. The pic below is from the D1 final when Rancho Santa Margarita won in OT. Max has 23 and Jake had 14. Chino Hill forward Onyeka Okongwu (21) tries to protect the ball from Santa Margarita forward Max Agbonkpolo. (Gary Coronado / Los Angeles Times) Rodgarnay51 likes this.

Is it still calculated as a 9 point loss? Overtime losses should be considered as one point losses, despite the final score.

Each had only a few rebounds and points. We have the inside depth (when has SC had that over Fucla ever?) so I’d try to get Riley in foul trouble again – go at him. That will take them out of their game. They can’t sub for Riley like we can for Big O. Big O can’t be too aggressive early and get 2 fouls before half. Either can Mathews – play smart but don’t reach in. We need them both in the game. The lineup for the majority of the game is set (Anderson, Mathews, Utomi, Rak, Big O). You rotate Mobley at the 4/5. The question is who gets the minutes for the subs at 1/2/3? They will probably apply full court pressure. Maybe Weaver or Adlesh over Max to get the ball up the court. But if we have a small lead, I’d put Max on Kyman in man-to-man and see the results. Pull him out quick if it isn’t working or give him 5-7 minutes if it is working. Max must play D and stop Kyman. It would be interesting to see the High School teammates go at it. In the last game, other than Big O, the starting 5 had good games. Anderson should be OK against their PG as he was in the last game because he is physically much stronger and a better shooter. I think the match-ups favor SC. GO SC!
