ESPN's Joe Lunardi has USC as an 11 seed in the West and involved in a play-in game against Oklahoma in his latest bracketology. Still a chance for USC to get out of that play-in game with a couple big games to finish the regular season.

Beat ASU and fUCLA and they should be at least a 10 seed.
Actually would rather be a 10 seed than an 8 or 9 where you'd have to face the #1 seed with 1 win in the Tourney.

We're already a 9th seed in Palm's. We beat ASU and UCLA and win a game in the Pac 12 Tourney and we move up to a 7.

The Net rating has been a disaster from what I see, Arizona is 11 with 3 1 quad wins, Oregon is 20 with 7 1 quad wins. Lunardi really follows the net rating, I just do not think they will go that way. Clearly teams improved their Net by running up scores in non conference games, not what we want to happen

we can't beat colorado what difference does it make who we play? we got clobbered by a team hanging around the bottom of the top 25 do you really think we are going somewhere in the tournament? IF we get there?

Those wins against the Arizona schools got USC out of the play-in game according to Lunardi's updated bracketology. USC is still an 11 seed, now in the Midwest, opening against Ohio State.

UCLA is a 12 seed, and was just added to his bracket.

The head scratcher is Lunardi has SC as "last 4 byes" as an 11 seed, while fUCLA is not in "last four byes" or "last four in" as a 12 seed. So, he's saying that fUCLA is more secure than SC, yet a lower seed. Seems illogical.
On another note, other "bracketologists" have SC anywhere from a 9 to 11 seed and safely in.

None of the metrics support UCLA dancing. NET ranking of 75. Losses at home to the number 123 and 268 ranked teams. The exact reasons we were left out last year, yet those metrics are being completely ignored for UCLa. They’re basically wiping away their entire first half of the season. We need to crush their dreams and send them to the NIT where they belong.

That's generous. Send them to the CBI.

NET relies so much on winning convincingly. Hence, our big jump this week after 9 and 10 point wins over a Net 1 and Net 2.
fUCLA has won a bunch of close games during their current run. So, they are not getting the Net boost. But, still an impressive run (as much as I hate to admit it).
Would be nothing sweeter than a convincing 20 point SC win on Saturday to complete the sweep and squash their hopes. Although, they likely may still be able to play their way in with a strong showing in the Pac-12 Tourney. Here's hoping we stomp them, and they lose their first game in the Pac-12 tourney.

The UCLA run is strange, if you watch their games I would not say they are playing great basketball. They seem to catch teams on real bad nights, against UA they only had like 4 field goals thru most the first half but still won the game because UA was playing worse. Clearly they way we are playing now we should beat them easily

They need to drop the net, it is worthless. If they keep it teams will be running up scores next year in games where they should be letting the subs play. Utah beat someone by like 90 points this year, that is just wrong

I agree. Still not sure what makes the most sense - I guess, at the end of the day, you try to get a bunch of really knowledgeable basketball folks in the same room to pick the field. Where do we apply?

I like the quad system, and they should be using RPI to rank teams, it worked very well. Arizona an 11 and Oregon a 20, not even close. Arizona should be about where we are

Net takes into account margin of victory but I believe they cap it at 10 or so to discourage teams from running up the score. So a 10pt win counts the same as a 30pt win

In the Coaches and AP Polls, SC is 15+ spots out of the top 25. Fucla is 2 spots out of the Top 25 in both polls. Beating them on Saturday would be BEAUTIFUL. HUGE game. Winner is in. Loser is at the mercy of people that usually screw us - more favorable to the bRuins.
I've watched a lot of their games and I think we match up good against them. We have good inside D and rebounding (Big O was in foul trouble in the last game) and good perimeter D. They want to get easy inside shots. It is nice we can rotate Big O, Rak, and Mobley. Our weakness is PG and we won't get outplayed there - their PG can't shoot. As a team, they won't shoot a high %. We win if we can shoot a decent outside %. I like the matchup a lot.

We have dealt with Os injuries, then the virus. We are in good shape now and play great at home. UCLA has won a lot, but wins ugly games, I like our chances.
