Dream interview- BKU compares Pete vs Clay practices

Wish we could hear what he really thinks?

Yes, but I think any USC follower with a pulse knows the difference between a Carroll practice and a Helton practice is the difference between comparing a millivolt battery to a nuclear reactor.

 

Pete Carroll practices consisted of hitting in pads.

Clay Helton practices consist of pats on the back.

 

PC practice: Coach O takes off his shirt and challenges you to a fight.

CH practice: Coach Helton takes off his shirt and tells you he loves you.

 

Pete Carroll practice, Pete says, "Huddle Up"!

Clay Helton practice, Clay says, "Snuggle Up".

 

Reasonably considering, if he wants to remain in the profession, he'll most certainly pack his office up, shake hands (or not) and send out his resume. He will NOT look for work long. Most professional coaches (collegiate and NFL) move around every 3-4 years as it is, but, once a coach gets his foot in the professional door, rarely will he be out of a job for long, unless it's his choosing. From all the things written by GarryP, GregK, et al, BKU is young, energetic, likable and considered an overall effective coach. The fact that the DL wasn't as good as last year revolves more around personnel than anything else (my opinion). I don't believe we'll be hearing "HCCH sucks" comments...unless, that is, he moves off the sidelines and joins the rest of us.

As a coach he had the opportunity to change the culture like the PC days and he did nothing

Clay keeps that up and he's just another liability for a sexual harassment lawsuit.

 

I mean any criticism would ring p hallow at this point from him now. Its a guilt by association sort of deal. If he thinks the practices were soft and produced a soft team then he could/should of worked extra or spent more time ensuring his guys along the line was the exception to that rule.

The Dline play was good not great but I'm not scapegoating coach BKU because if we're honest not having Gustin/a pass rush really limited the line's overall effectiveness.

It would be much better for all parties involved if he took the high road didn't throw shade on the way out, leaving the bridges intact and hopefully, one day come home returning as a more seasoned well-rounded coach.

I'll tell you, at some point, some of you guys just DON'T get it...Yep, Clay has many "haters"...Clay has many who can "live with him", but I guarantee his genuine care and concern for his players is APPRECIATED by the guys in HIS locker room. Just because some of you are too insecure to share real and genuine care, emotion, and, yes, LOVE for those in your circles of influence doesn't mean the SC players don't believe in the MAN, Clay Helton. Juvenile... you are juvenile in nearly EVERY post and response.
