That does suck. Was it just a lack of playing time?

Do the Fighting Illini have room for him on their Roster?
How about these guys outwork and outperform the competition and earn their playing time?

My guess Oregon bound. If I remember correctly it was down to us and Oregon. I don’t have facts but I am going to guess he is better than any receiver in Oregon’s current roster right now. Big loss this year and bigger next year

    No kidding.

They all think they should start instead of trying to overcome challenges.
Wait till he finds out that the NFL is a business.

Well, frosh receivers got in on the action, like drake london and others..

Maybe he just hasnt developed as fast as them? If he has, hed have gotten some catches, etc..

We still have Bru and Kyle Ford marinating for the future....USC will be fine with the skills guys. .

And the drops are why is wasn’t seeing the field much. A ton of upside but he needs to get those hands together to be an impact player

It sucks, but in reality it’s not so much of a loss for us, but it could strengthen the opposition if he goes to another PAC-12 team.

Even without him, we still have among the best group of WR’s in the country.

This. There is so much potential with Devon Williams. But if McCoy and Ford get to full health, all five of those 2019 freshmen might be better pure wide receivers. I'd love to see Williams if he reaches that ceiling, because he could be terrific. But he just never put it all together, and honestly, that's not crazy for a guy who played two-ways in high school and was just scratching the surface of what he could be as a receiver. Would have loved to see him keep growing this year and maybe grab a starting spot next year.

Had the transfer portal been around two years ago, Pittman would be gone.

I don’t think it’s a big loss. Probably not a coincidence that’s he announced his transfer after seeing Drake London & McClain look solid in their playing time. And we still have Bru and Kyle Ford who will play next season. DW has talent but his drops made it hard from him to see the field.

Can he still play? I mean isn’t the portal something that they can shop around but still stay with the team?

Probably but he stuck around and look how much better he's become. Adversity is what refines us.

We have enough receiving talent to absorb this, but I'd hate to see him across the line for a rival. Hope he goes OOC

    Arrrrggghhhh!

Dang it . . . this kid can play.

Leaving waaaayyy too soon. I know he wanted to play more, but to leave after game two is just an emotional, bad decision.

I could understand it if this was the end of the season, and things had not changed. But as a 2nd stringer at his WR spot, there is too much of the season left to earn more rotation time, and we know that guys get hurt along the way.

SC can absorb this with the WR depth it has . . . but you hate to see Williams leave now . . . with the size, talent and potential he has. He would have given SC that "big" receiver option in the future.

Hope he sleeps on this, and changes his mind.
