Sure seems like he’s coming for that left tackle spot. Nobody will remember that Washington State offensive line performance fondly, but it was nice to be able to get him and Jonah Monheim some real work last year. That should be a big help to them moving forward because they’re likely going to wind up as key pieces of the offensive line over the coming years. AD1974, Troy70 and gubo&palanka like this.

Helton mentioned several players, but one name that was omitted was Jason Rodriguez. There was another thread about Jason that I asked the same question. Was that an oversight by Helton or is Jason that far apart from the Oline. He was one of the highly recruited kids that we wait every year to break into the lineup. Also, wasn’t Dedich projected to play guard or tackle last year? Was he just out performed or did they hold back worrying about injuries to Nielon? Fight On! Rodgarnay51 and motovich like this.

It has been one of the things (lineup/personnel wise) that has annoyed me most these last two seasons. Outside of AVT, he was our best lineman (IMO). I think he's even better than Neilon. Even if Mr. Fight thinks Neilon's the safer pick at center, it still doesn't excuse not having Dedich at guard. You just have to find a way to get your best guys on the field. That's two (if not 3) seasons now where Dedich should have been a starter. I guess Helton just doesn't like guys that play with a mean streak. If you look back on the highlights of Dedich's senior season, including his major camp performances, it is hard not to wonder why he wasn't a starter on day 1. He was dominant against the nation's very best defensive lineman in the big national camps. Outside of Solo and Amon-Ra, Dedich was the 2018 recruit I was happiest we landed. The whole thing is so annoying. Last edited: Jan 13, 2021 Ride Fly, Rodgarnay51 and Troy70 like this.

I don't think he's that far behind, and Helton had mentioned him as one of the next guys up in media sessions throughout this past season. But I was surprised that he didn't get a shot against Washington State when the two true freshmen played. Dedich lined up at left guard in the one spring ball practice we saw, but the staff clearly liked what Vorhees brought to the lineup there and Vorhees actually was one of the highest-rated offensive linemen in the Pac-12 this past season. I don't think Dedich can play tackle. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him again this season because for right now, it looks like those three interior guys are all planning to be back. motovich, Rodgarnay51 and Troy70 like this.

I seem to recall him lead blocking a few times, which I thought was a creative way of getting him on the field. When he has played, I think he’s done very well. Rodgarnay51 likes this.

Someone needs to speak up so there’s a fair competition. Hoping the new coach will figure this out OxyTrojan likes this.
