the call when the qb hit the ground was highly questionable. while i cannot stand the targeting call;by the rule it's accurate. that one is gonna really hurt. bigger issue is defense has to make a stand.

Bad initial call on Juju's catch.....clearly inbounds. Prolly wouldn't have been reviewed if SC fans hadn't make a ruckus

Pretty sorry crew but I made it all the way thru without bitching. In the end we got the calls we deserved and pulled out an epic win.

That 3rd qtr run by the nittany lions was the stuff of nightmares.

It's a miracle we were able to overcome such a corupt group of officials.

The reversal on the fumble recovery was the topper for me. I mean come on...the guy had ZERO control of the ball....ZERO!!!

He was just laying there and stuck a hand out there and it happened to be on the ball.

The fact that they REVERSED the call on the field is just dumbfounding.

Completely agree. In the 2nd Half we were playing against a bifurcated opponent, PSU & the zebras. There were numerous, terrible calls by the refs tonight.

If they were truly corrupt they would not have called back to back PI calls on our last td drive

Bartner should have played three blind mice all night! ACC was totally PSU biased. PSU was holding our receivers all day long.

They need to change that targeting rule, there was no way Cam should have been kicked out of the game.

The refs kicked a kid out of the ROSE BOWL game over a hit that didn't have any intent. Doesn't targeting require a blatant cheap shot? Terrible call IMO. The Pac-12 will hear from USC about the calls and address it appropriately.

seriously, can we talk about the first PSU td that wasn't a catch? The 2nd td that was a clear push off by their TE? The pass interference on the darnold INT. The guy just ran through our reciever.. this is on top of all of the other stupid stuff.

My theory... the refs were making sure we didn't cover the spread... they lightened up on us a lot once it became clear we wouldn't be able to cover... That PSU juggling TD was NOT a TD (no control), the fumble should not have been reversed (no proof), and there was holding by PSU on almost every major scramble from their QB (don't recall a single holding call on PSU)... the 1st and 4th quarter were neutrally called and were dominated by SC... football is a game of momentum, biased officiating results in much more than the call on the field!!

Plays we got screwed on by the refs:

    1. Upon further review, Rogers did not block that dude in the back on Adoree’s punt return. It was a clean shot to the outside of his shoulder, not to the back. I tevo’d it and watched it in super slow-mo. It really wasn't even that close.

    2. Godwin did NOT secure that ball in the end-zone before he stepped on the line. No way. He was juggling the ball and bouncing it off his crotch before he finally got hold of it, but by then, his left foot was on the line. It should have been a no catch instead of a touchdown.

    3. There was a terribly obvious no-call on holding at the end of the second quarter with Rasheem Green dragging a Penn State lineman along as he was clinging to his Rasheem’s jersey like a drunk date. It was right in the center of the line as he was bearing down on McSorley. There is no way the ref could have missed it. Penn State got a big first down on the next play, and a touchdown to end the drive.

    4. We got screwed with an unnecessary roughing the QB call on Chris Hawkins when he clearly flew over the top of McSorley and didn’t hit him when he was sliding. And he really wasn’t sliding to begin with—McSorley slipped on the turf, he wasn’t attempting to slide. Double reason for a no-call on that play. That kept the Penn State drive alive, and they scored a bit later to make it 49-35. Nuts and bolt, nuts and bots, we got screwed.

    5. Penn State’s DB’s got away with murder all night. #15 was raping our receivers all game. They flagged him 3 times for PI, but they could have thrown it twice that many times. He ran into Deontay on a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 10 jump ball in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] quarter where he didn’t turn his head at all but just ran right through him. Horrible no call.

    6. In the same way, #1 ran into Juju on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] quarter pass play while the ball was still in the air. The ball bounced off Juju’s hands and flew up in the air before being intercepted by #11. It was a bang-bang play but it should have been called pass interference. Had he not been hit early, Juju probably makes that catch. Juju is a big guy so they let those little guys get into him early. That led to a TD by Penn State on the very next play. (That was also the point where I thought the game was lost).

    7. The refs threw a flag at the end of the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] quarter after a big Penn State catch and run. Holding by Penn State. Then, they picked the flag up and declared that there was no foul on the play. Helton looked incredulous.

    8. On the next play, it should have been holding on Penn State as they once again raped Greene. Instead, they flagged Cam Smith for targeting and he was tossed. Those two plays (the completion that should have come back, and the following flag on Cam) were a 40 yard swing. Ticky-tack call for targeting—McSorley made as much contact into Cam’s face as Cam made into his. Cam had his arms up to knock down the pass, not to hit the QB in the head. Crap call.

Was McSorley’s fourth quarter fumble recovered by USC? I agreed with the ref’s reversed call, giving the ball back to Penn State. The Penn State player had that ball secured for about a full second before Stevie ripped it out. But after having screwed us on the Godwin touchdown reception, the refs should have upheld the call on the field and given us the ball. Of the two reviews, the Godwin call was much easier to overturn than Stevie’s recovery. By that point in the game, it was like, “There HAS to be some sort of ref conspiracy against us. There is no way you can screw up that many calls ALL AGAINST USC.”

Finally after so many bad calls, they gave Juju his catch in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] quarter along the right sideline. It was a good call: Juju didn’t bobble the ball and his right foot clearly was on the ground when the ball was in his hands. But at that point, I suppose the refs figured that there was no way we’d come back from a 2 touchdown deficit. Wrong. Jones scored on the next play.

    HORRIBLE officiating.

Those PI calls weren't make up calls, they were legit PI's against Penn State in the 4th. It probably would've been hell to pay if they didn't make that call. They were to obvious to ignore.
