Coaching Decision SCTrojan Junior Member Joined: Aug 24, 2017 Messages: 0 Likes Received: 0 Oct 16, 2013 #1 Doesn't it seem a little strange that we made a big run at Savage and when he declined our offer, we turn to the interim guy (Hubbs) and say, ok you can coach the team. Yes, he's a USC guy...but if we went for a big name why do an about face and keep what we have...sub .500 coach. We've been atrocious since Gillespie's embarassing departure. I'm tired of how poorly we've performed and have to witness the success across town.

Obviously the USC administration feels UCLA has the better baseball coach. That should help with recruiting. Not.

The scholarship limits made schools like CSFU powers while hamstringing private schools. ucla just got extremely lucky in recruiting some big time kids that passed on pro ball. USC not so much and it's showing.

Even with the scholarships, there's no reason we cannot field a team that consistently makes the regionals...let alone finishes above .500. It's pathetic when 5-7 schools from the conference get selected for post season play and the once proud USC baseball program sits at home.
