The obvious dejection here says it all to me.

I disagree on this. We lost to BYU with Slovis, and they are a lesser team than UW, with Slovis and the coaches making similar mistakes to those made by Fink and the coaches against UW, including the 3 INT’s.

We squandered too many opportunities when in UW territory, had some driving killing penalties at some of the worst possible times, and we stuck with the short passing game when UW was keying on it. IMO, we should have ran till they stopped us, with a few long passes in there to stretch the field vertically and make the defense think. When we finally did throw long late in the 3rd Q, it went for a 44 yd TD.

I don’t think Daniels or Slovis makes difference in the outcome . But I could be wrong.

We will respectfully disagree! Slovis possibly would not have thrown the three interceptions.... possibly. It is pure speculation though. What happened, happened.

I'm confident. The Pac-12 south sucks. ND might kick our ass but have you seen the rest of the Pac-12 south?

How do YOU know they aren't thinking that? Maybe thats exactly what they're thinking? How do you KNOW that if they dare speak their own mind then Helton won't play them? Provide a link proving that, otherwise that is pure speculation. I believe you are projecting your own opinions as THE truth.

You see how that bullshit works?

I’ll break it down for you. Were we down to our 3rd string RB? No. So why put the game in the hands of your 3rd string QB? UW dropped 5 and 6 defenders about every play and dared us to run it with 5 and 6 man boxes. How’d Helton handle that? BYU did the same thing the week before, so he should have been prepared, right. That’d be a big negative Ghost Rider.

Great, he has the players playing hard. When he has a talent advantage, he’ll win most of those games. Equal or lesser talent? Ass kicking because we never have a schematic advantage or make adjustments to our schematic deficiencies. Give Helton a big fat participation trophy and send him back to Western Kentucky.

You posted a bunch of conjecture. Someone posted their own conjecture. You called their conjecture conjecture. Now we're here.

I am amazed to see that after the last 2 1/2 seasons of ineptness, there are still posters on this board defending Helton. When you people wake up and realize how much of a loser this guy is, how his excuses and explanations are worthy of a hack politician.
Have you people watched us play since 2017? Do you not remember all of the ugly wins vs. greatly inferior competition?
How about blow out loses to Texas, OSU, Utah, ND.? Do you remember the meltdown vs Cal? Losing to 2-8 fucla?Do you know Gomer's record when Darnold isn't there to bail him out?
Its OK- this team is "special", "can win the PAC 12"-"and I can't wait to see them in November"

I don’t know. How many TD’s are we from being 5-0? How many missed opportunities in the red zone are we away from being 5-0? How many drive killing penalties are we away? How many missed tackles? How many missed blocks by the O-Line?

The INT’s are not the only reason we have two losses. But the point is that the good teams ARE 5-0 (or 4-1) and aren’t needing to ask such questions.

Exactly. Maybe if Clay Helton could keep the guy's he recruits at a higher rate. He wouldn't have the 3rd string or we're a young team (starting freshman in the secondary) excuse.

    Look at this pattern:

    2015 Recruiting Class (26)
    1. Osa Mesina LB
    2. Yakili Ross DB
    3. Ricky Town QB
    4. Noah Jefferson DT
    5. Roy Hemsley OT
    6. Cole Smith C
    7. Kevin Scott DT

26 signed 7 have left the team

    2016 (20)
    1. Wole Beitiku DE
    2. Jack Jones (DB)
    3. EJ Price OT
    4. Jamel Cook (DB)
    5. Tevon Sidney (WR)
    6. Josh Imatorbhebhe (WR)
    7. Nathan Smith (OT)
    8. Cary Angeline (TE)
    9. Pie Young (DB)

20 signed 9 have left the team

    2017 (24)
    1. Joseph Lewis (WR)
    2. Buba Bolden (DB)
    3. Levi Jones (LB)
    4. Jack Sears (QB)
    5. Randal Grimes (WR)
    6. JeQari Godfrey (DB)

24 signed 6 left the team

    2018 (18)
    1. Devon Williams (WR)
18 Signed 1 left the team so far

From 2015 to 2018 88 signed 22 are no longer with the team for various reasons (25%). That's one whole recruiting class.

This does not even counting the half dozen players on the roster who are buried on the depth chart after several season and will most likely never play a significant role. I won't name them but you could probably figure out who they are. These are the guys that get moved from offense to defense and then back to offense (wink wink) and have last names like famous "Rat Packers" or guy's who have last names like legendary Yankee coaches.

This is a broken system thing.

    1. Miss evaluated Players (skill level)
    2. Recruited guys with injuries coming in (medial retirement)
    3. Miss managed their playing time. (Transfer) Devon Williams
    4. Gave up on them without playing them (Josh Imatorbhebhe, Trevon Sidney)

    and on and on

You need depth to win on the big stage. When on guy like Hufanga misses a game and you're saying "if we had him". You are being critical of his back up. Yet you missed 22 times on your opportunity to secure a veteran back up who could play championship football.

Some are Ugly trolls (usc-sway) and others are millennials that believe playing hard earns you a trophy. Coffee is for closers, and that ain’t CH.

I totally concur with everything above, but I think you omitted one of the most major problems with Helton’s program is that there seems to be a lack of player development. The majority of kids come here anticipating to play at the next level. If you look at the most recent drafts, with the exception of Darnold, players under Helton’s regime have not done well. They have DB’s outbenching our Olinemen. This to me is another tell tale sign of our declining program. Lack of player development!

Would that be the BYU team that lost to Toledo last week?
