Would Joe Barry come back as defensive coordinator? Is he even on the radar? He is currently with the Rams has NFL experience and has worked at SC with success in past.

Might be available soon if the Rams drop one more game and won't be contending for the NFC wildcard anymore.

I worry CP will be retained. He was actually on a home visit out of state the other day with the rest of the D staff and CCH (minus DeForest, who should be ST asst replacing Baxter, since that is his core competency)

I think he does too, sadly. I mean, the delay is probably be because of the early recruiting period and bowl game and the problem coaches might be let go after that (Helton aside). But the fact that there's been zero movement is disconcerting - even if just to make an example of someone.

If they have not moved by now... likely eliminates many college coaches for the most part. There will be slight movement when new HC's take the realm, but most have of those coordinators go with their HC. NFL coaches in a month or so are more likely... but I agree, the fact that nothing has happen yet leads me to believe CP is not going anywhere.

This whole staff will stay together, maybe they’ll dump Baxter. Lame duck coach - massive buyouts. Maybe someone else will hire him from us. Lol!

All signs point to Clancy coming back next season... he's out on the recruiting trail going hard, which is not like him. Some have speculated Clay is waiting until after the bowl game to make changes. that might be true, but I bet it's just another way to placate the fanbase until they screw the pooch once again

I believe Clancy, Clay and Baxter are all working really hard with situational mastery by taking mental reps.

We have 16 days left until the bowl game and yet to have a practice.

The team decided to have a players run practice, but NOTHING from the coaching staff.

I am yet to figure out what's going on.

If they won’t tackle does it matter?

Sounds like coaches are all on the recruiting trail - perhaps trying to make up for lost time commiserating with each other under assumption that HCCH and themselves would all be let go but would still be retained through the bowl game for continuity.

Compare that to ESPN catching up with Lincoln Riley on private jet recruiting literally morning after Oklahoma beat Baylor and saw the dominoes fall their way to let them back into the CFP.

I don't understand the thought process behind keeping Clancy. His defense gives up way too many big plays on critical 3rd downs (Colorado game was a perfect example). One of the reasons our 4-3 defense with PC was so good was because they stuffed the run and was bend but don't break defense. I'm old school and I am of the thought that DEFENSE wins championships

On the contrary, Texas just dumped their OC and DC - Kelly at ND dumped his longtime DC. Lots of movement going on out there. Would like to hope that Helton might be interested in trying to improve his staff and looking for position coaches/DC coordinator that might give USC better results next year (like he did with OC GH this year). Hey, he might even save his job and improve the team's performance ..........

Gomer can’t even recruit 4/5 star athletes in his own backyard...what makes you think he could “recruit” a quality DC!!

CP and JB were good a couple of years ago. What happened to change that? Personnel? New coaches changing schemes in pac12?
