Paperwork has been submitted and I believe Steele is hopeful he will be allowed to play, but from what I’ve heard, Bru has pretty much resigned himself to sitting out. He knew that when he came back.

Does this count as a Redshirt year and allow him to play in four games?

That was the latest I’ve heard as well. I believe Steele’s waiver will be approved, Bru will likely be sitting out this season.

If he doesn't get cleared to play by the NCAA he will Redshirt, and be unable to play the whole season.

We all want to see these Freshman play, but honestly we are a bit top heavy at WR and with Pittman, and Vaughns being SR's staggering the freshman WR as true and RS wouldn't be a bad thing for long term depth having McCoy and Ford as RS Freshmen.

To be accurate, Vaughns is only a Jr and will have a year of eligibility left after this season. And if Bru or Kyle are as good as either is expected to be, neither will be on campus for their redshirt jr season.

Even as a redshirt, McCoy can play in 4 games to keep him motivated and get him used to college-level play. Between that and challenging our first-team DBs during practice, he has a chance to be very productive this year.

To be clear, for Bru to play ANY games this season he would need to be cleared by the ncaa for the transfer waiver he files. And if he’s cleared I suspect he’ll play in more than 4 games.

I must be woefully uninformed on the rules regarding transfers. Is it not (a) transfer and be cleared to play, or (b) transfer and not be cleared to play, meaning you have to redshirt, so the normal redshirt rules apply? There's a (c) that says if you transfer and you're not cleared to play, you still must redshirt, but the redshirt rule that allows you to play does not apply?

If McCoy isn't granted immediate eligibility, he won't be able to play in any games this season.

The idea that Bru could not be granted immediate eligibility but still operate by the redshirt rules would be the same as someone in recent years transferring, not being granted immediate eligibility, but playing in the first three games anyway and then saying they suffered an injury and had to use their redshirt year.

Losing a year of eligibility due to a transfer is just that. The reason that it so often coincides with someone using their redshirt year is that in a huge majority of cases, the player still has that redshirt year to use. But there are times when someone has already used their redshirt year, then transfers schools and simply has to sit out that season, giving up a year of eligibility.

Drake was very focused at every spring practice I went to. Big as a house too, future to TE?

6’5”, 215...good speed, athletic, jumps out of the gym...why would he switch to TE? What an absolute waste to move a guy like that in college ball....especially at USC, where TEs go to die.

Calvin Johnson, All-Pro extraordinaire, was 6’5”, 240 as a dominating wide receiver.
Brandon Marshall was at least 230....Mike Evans 230. Like BMW in college . He can be in those molds, even if he gains mature weight.

This is a very talented class, and another who fits that “big” label would be McClain. This will be a hard group to cover if the qb makes the quick read.
