Another administrative fumble (along with eradicating the penalties and enforcement of discipline he claimed "HE" was responsible for) for Helton.
A spot has opened up. Harrell is not going to use the TE's no matter how much hyperbole flows from Helton's bunghole. We don't need a TE coach. Offer the coaching position to Claiborne and let him improve the LB play.

The Bohn-Head is presiding over this garbage while Folt fiddles (or, is it diddles?) up in the ivory tower...just a few more stones tumbling from what was once a mighty wall and is now just a fence that can be stepped over by ASU and all comers...

I hope Orlando's insistence on coaching LB's does not have future repercussions. It reminds me of when Marvin Sanders was fired because Clancy wanted to coach DB's. It only cost us Jalen Ramsey.

We will be getting a TE coach for Trigg and McCree. We'll just bring in some new defensive analyst's to help out at LB.

Air Raid systems usually have two WR assistant coaches - inside and outside - and not one like USC had on the staff. At USC the TE assistant coach should really be the inside WR coach position. The issue is in the naming of this assistant coach, if you call it the "Inside WR assistant coach" and don't have a TE assistant coach listed on the staff, you really have a hard time recruiting TEs.

Helton and Harrell should just rename it 'Tight End/Inside Receiver" Assistant Coach, and go hire someone very familiar with the Air Raid concept and coaching receivers and TEs.

There's a misperception that Clailbore in the OC Analysts role was an on the field assistant coach - like a Graduate Assistant Coach. He technically was not. Per the job description and NCAA rules, the ability of an Analyst to assist with on field coaching in practices is limited... yes it happens, especially with CV19 limited outside eyes at practice, however if caught it will get a school in NCAA's cross hairs.

"USC Football is seeking a full-time Quality Control Analyst to provide administrative support to coaching and operations staff. Responsibilities include organizing, coordinating, and performing analysis of practice and game day operations along with preliminary scouting reports and schemes. This position provides administrative support to football coaching and operations staff to help ensure program success. The individual in this roles researches, reports on, and analyzes critical USC and opponent team data; supports recruiting efforts; and assists coaches with camp, clinic, and game day planning and execution."

NCAA - "11.7.4 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be a limit of one head coach, 10 assistant coaches and four graduate assistant coaches who may be employed by an institution in bowl subdivision football."

NCAA - "11.7.4.1 Exceptions to Number Limits. [FBS] No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.4 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity"

I am sure this was a chess move by Edwards and ASU.
You can clearly see that there was no room for advancement for CC on the current defensive staff.
So Edwards and Lewis saw an opportunity to come in and steal someone.

This is no different than what they did with Hawkins a few years ago.
We all knew that he was not going to be coaching CB/S anytime soon, especially with him just graduating.
You go out and snag someone that has a lot of energy and let them grow/learn on the fly.

Hard to see CC getting poached by Herm at ASU - from both a recruiting and coaching standpoint let's hope this doesn't hurt the Trojans down the road.

IMHO I thought DCTO did a pretty decent job when dealing with the obvious lack of quality LBs available - thankfully Hufanga was around to play the Troy Palumalo roll to fill most of the gaps in the defense and Goforth improved his play as well.

Wish CC good luck in his coaching career as a former Trojan star but hopefully he won't impact USC's future achievements in the Pac-12 South.
