Carson Palmer named to College Football Hall of Fame

Palmer does not get enough credit for being the start of USC renaissance. Yes he won the Heisman, a major bowl and was the number 1 pick--he didn't get to relish in the glory like Leinart, Bush, etc.

He did a lot of hard work on some very bad teams to get the Heisman. He deserves it more than anybody. I still have my banged up, letters peeling off #3 jersey.

 

Congratulations to Carson! Well deserved honor.

I don't know the answer to this but has anyone that won a Hesiman not been admitted into the Hall?

 

Well deserved. If not for that knee injury, I think he wouldn’t have had a shot at the NFL HOF as well.

That epic demolition of ND his senior year remains one of my favorite games. It was a giant signal for me that USC was back.

 

I had an argument with a Domer fan on the way in. I told him you guys are getting killed today in a very as a matter a fact way. He said Imwas being disrespectful to the Domers and it would be a close game. I loved that season.

Carson definitely deserves credit for helping to start that great 7 year run that we had. After his last game (against Iowa) he said “I envy the players who are coming back. They are going to win a National Championship”. He was prophetic. We won NC the following season.

 

It was an amazing game!! Got to be there with my Dad and brothers as CP and the Trojans trounced the Irish. He made every kind of throw... the Coli was rockin’ on a very cool night!

 

First of two HT QBs Coach Chow produced at SC. Graham needs kindergarten classes from him. Laugh when a few formites say he has nothing to offer.

Gosh, I hope the voters wake up and recognize this brilliant college career. Sooo deserving.

 

I will never forget the play where his knee was exploded. To this day I am positive that was a dirty and intentional move.
He had a great NFL career, but what could it have been without that single play?

 

Interesting take - I just read that Pete Carroll cannot at the moment be considered for the College Football Hall of Fame and it has nothing to do with the Reggie Bush scandal. First is that he is still an active head coach and not retired, but even if he was retired, he still would not be eligible. Why - because he is short by 1 year of coaching in the college ranks. You need 10 years of coaching at the college ranks to be eligible. He has all the numbers just short 1 year. In fact if he ever went back to the college ranks for one year and never won another game, only then could he become eligible. I am not sure that is going to matter as he will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, but I sometimes think certain exceptions should be made.

Well, he definitely gets credit from me. Heck, his career personifies USC's return to elite status. Recall that he was a highly heralded recruit, at least as much as many of the other ballyhooed QB recruits we've had in the past, everyone from Marinovich up through Daniels, and, like the USC program itself in those years when he was recruited, struggled mightily. There were flashes of what he could become, but it looked like he'd be much like the USC program itself - full of unfulfilled potential and actually mediocre in fact.

Then Pete turned everything, including him, around, and Palmer became a well-deserving Heisman winner (Miami fans bellyaching for Ken Dorsey notwithstanding).
